Professor James Good states rally will be a display of "true America"

Sociology professor James Good of Arkansa’s Hendrix College makes no attempt to hide his enthusiasm for the upcoming Rally to Restore Sanity event to be held on Washington DC’s National Mall on October 30th. “What an amazing and transformative event this is going to be!” Says Good, a wide smile cutting across his still youthful face. At first glance it would be difficult to know that James has been a professor for over a decade now. For nearly half of that time, he has been almost exclusively focusing on the world of social networking and online forums, including such new age news sites as Digg and Reddit.

“Earlier in the year we had the Glenn Beck Restoring Honor www.Close Com batTraining.com The Daily Show in DC event. I studied the peripheral components of that event – Missed the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or which, while significant, was more an older technology style Fear? Watch Clips Here! event. Television and radio were the primary drivers. I have www.The DailyShow.com been very excited to be researching the Rally to Restore Sanity event as it is a newer technology outcome – which is clearly where the future is taking us. In fact, as this Rally culminates on October 30th, I am quite comfortable in stating the future is now.” Professor Good’s energy on the subject is undeniable.

Read more in Politics “I have literally poured over thousands of online posts regarding this event. I « Islam and Democracy have reviewed news reports, blogs, message boards…what it all points to is What is Your Opinion on Voting » that the Rally to Restore Sanity may prove the single most inclusive and far reaching socio-political event of the modern era. It truly has the potential to be just that, so for someone like me who devotes their life to studying such phenomena, it is very exciting.” But what then of the Glenn Beck rally? How is it truly different than the Rally to Restore Sanity? “Oh, the differences are so great – where to start! The Beck event was largely older, white, and conservative. Now I don’t say that in any way to disparage the event or Mr. Beck. It was a large gathering of common-interest people, and as such, it is worth noting and studying. But what I am seeing with this Rally to Restore Sanity is beyond that – truly beyond it. We are talking about people of all backgrounds, age groups – young and old, rich and poor, Black, Latino, White, it is all being represented at this event. It is going to be an incredible display of what I would call true America in 2010. From a sociologist’s view, October 30th in Washington DC is going to be beautiful. Simply beautiful.” And will Professor Good be attending the event? “Absolutely! Did you even need to ask! I will be there with two other members of my department the day before. We hope to do some interviews, compile first person response data, and then ultimately, sit back and enjoy the proceedings. Mark my words, the Rally to Restore Sanity is something that will prove to have long lasting sociological impact. It is an event so unique. I mean, tens of thousand, maybe hundreds of thousands of people united in a common cause of saying “Hey – American politics is getting just a bit too strange, right? It’s getting tough to parody American politics anymore because the parody is less a parody than the real thing, if that makes sense. This event is very much Aristophanes on a national scale. A satirical communion that cuts across the sociological spectrum of America.”
