New Main Control Cover and Gasket (4X4N and 4F50N)
In late 1999, Ford introduced a new structural Gasket
cast aluminum main control cover and gasket for the TransTec #33028
new 4F50N transaxle, which is virtually a copy of the Ford #YF1Z-7F396-AA
AX4N from previous model applications. A new
molded seal type of gasket is used with the new
control cover. The seal allows a slight torsional shift
from the cover to the case joint, while maintaining a
secure seal between the two edges.

The bolt hole configuration has also been modified

for 2000-up. There is no interchange between the
previous design parts and the current ones. The
molded seal fits in a channel machined in the main For 4F50N applications using a stamped steel main control
control cover, similar in design to the GM 4T40E cover, Ford gasket #YF1Z-7F396-BA is not available to the
side cover and seal assembly. aftermarket. It must be purchased separately from a dealer.

Are Many Other Products And Methods To Remove Them, But Permatex Worked Well For Us. Depending On The Age Of The Plate, Plan

AX4N / 4F50N CHANNEL PLATE GASKET

Late in 1999 Ford engineering revised the parking 2000-2003
pawl linkage for the AX4N transaxle. The changes
done required revisions in the case and channel plate
assemblies as well and thus a new channel plate to
case gasket has been released. The reverse pas-
sage in the gasket has been made shorter to accom- Reverse

reverse condition will occur due to reverse pressure
being dumped back into the case if the incorrect
gasket is used. All TransTec 2000-up AX4N kits
contain the late type gasket, all 1995-99 kits will
contain only the early type gasket.
