3.2.10. B1.
Analyze the relationships among the net forces acting on a body, and the mass
of the body, and the resulting acceleration using Newton’s Second Law of
Motion.
Apply Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation to the forces between two objects.
Lesson Objective(s)
(Stated in observable and measurable terms)
1. Use Photostory to create a 30 second slide show of photos, text, and music to
introduce Isaac Newton.
2. Be able to state important facts and dates from Newton’s life.
Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)
The students will be assessed on their Photostory slide show. The poster will be assessed
on content, mechanics, grammar, and attractiveness. The slide show must contain
photos, text, and music.
Materials:
Students with special needs will have the option to create a story board on paper first
using an outline provided by the teacher. This will help the student to sort out their ideas
before working with the computer program.
Enrichment Techniques:
Students will be challenged to create use aspects of Photostory not required by the
teacher.
Students with fine motor skills or other learning disabilities may have the option to create
their poster using a story board on paper. This should be used only to allow all students
entry into the lesson. Once the students have their ideas/thoughts on paper, a teacher or
paraprofessional will aid the student in creating their Photostory slide show.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:
The teacher will present their Photostory. Ask the students to write down three eye-
catching details. Share some of the students’ responses. This should lead into a
discussion about what the student slide shows should look like and teacher expectations.
Students will create Photostory on the history of Isaac Newton and the Three Laws of
Motion. This is an introductory activity. The students should state important facts about
Newton such as birth and death date, schooling, career, and any other important or
interesting facts. The slide show should be creative, original, contain no grammatical
errors, and be visually appealing.
Closure: Students’ slide shows will be presented on the projector in class. After their
slide show is presented, students can ask the presenter any questions either about Newton
or Photostory.
