INCE 2005, the
Philippine Daily In-
quirer has watched
the burgeoning of a new
Filipino independent film
scene.
We sensed something big
about to happen, and we’re
proud to have been proven
right. With untold dynamism,
the Pinoy indie director pro-
ceeded to raise the bar in local
filmmaking and, in the process,
started reaping awards here
and abroad.
We are happy to have put our
money where our heart led us,
so to speak, launching full cov-
erage at every turn by way of
supporting the movement.

With every reported victory
from film festivals abroad, the
INQUIRER felt part of the jubila-
tion, not just as the media orga-
nization that continues to fully
back the artistic endeavor, but

On Dec. 16, we are holding the
1st INQUIRER Indie Tribute, a very
special feature of our 25th an-
niversary celebrations. We cite 25
filmmakers for revealing Filipino
creativity and spirit to the world
and thus generating unprecedent-
ed recognition and goodwill for
the Pinoy cinema artist. In the fol-
lowing pages (and in alphabetical
order), we present the honorees.
