Project Background
The proposed Upper Padas Hydroelectric Scheme is a 150 MW project on the Padas River in
Malaysia. The project comprises a 120 m high RCC dam, 9.5 km of 5 m dia. headrace tunnel,
700 m long penstock and surface powerhouse with 3 x 50 MW Francis turbine-generator
units. Scott Wilson and its partners have been commissioned to prepare tender designs and
documents to enable international competitive bidding of the construction and supply
contracts for project implementation.
Project Scope
The scope of Scott Wilson’s services include:
• Review and updating of the feasibility studies.
• Specification and supervision of site investigations, surveys and laboratory testing.
• Tender level design of the project, including preparation of specifications and
drawings.
• Implementation planning.
• Preparation of tender documents.
• Planning the tender process and preparation of procurement notices.
Project Value
The Upper Padas hydroelectric project is being optimised to provide maximum value to the
Sabah electricity system, and the resulting sustainable development will provide secure
electricity supplies and enhance the generation from the downstream Tenom Pangi scheme.
