Man leaves Home Depot in Watertown with $600 worth of drills and faucets

By Laura Paine Wicked Local Watertown Posted Dec 13, 2010 @ 06:33 PM WATERTOWN — Police are investigating a case involving a suspect who left Home Depot with $604 worth of drills and faucets. On Dec. 9 at 9:53 a.m. police responded to the Arsenal Street story where security officers saw a man enter the store and select the goods. According to police, the suspect then opened the packages, went to a register, and tried to return the items. When the person at the counter reportedly refused to make the returns, the man put the merchandise into a shopping cart, put the items in his vehicle and left. Police were able to retrieve a license plate number from surveillance videos and contacted the owner of the car, who said she did not know about the incident. The owner reportedly found two Home Depot gift cards totaling $604 in the car, along with receipts that indicate the stolen items had been returned at two different Home Depot locations. The police investigation is ongoing. Copyright 2010 Watertown TAB & Press. Some rights reserved
