Construction continues
Work is continuing on Phase II of the Jenkins County Courthouse renovation project. This part of the project

BOE recognizes students
The Jenkins County Board of Education recognized the accomplishments of several students
during the Nov. 15 meeting of the group. Above, members of the JROTC Raider Team were

Memorial Tree lighting to be Dec. 2
The lighting of the Memorial Tree located at the Caboose on Cotton Avenue will take place 6
p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. Citizens may purchase tree lights or tree stars in honor/memory of loved
ones. Tree lights are $15 and tree stars are $25.
Forms are available at the chamber office. For additional information, call the chamber at
982-5595.
Sheriff’s Report
The Jenkins County Sheriff’s
Office reported the following
incidents Nov. 12-18.
• Three theft by taking inci-
dents were investigated at the
following locations: 1421
Chance-Saxon Road; 966 Angell
Road; and 6250 Elam Road.
• Three vehicle unlocks were
performed.
• One business and nine resi-
dential alarms were investigated.
• Accidents investigated in-
cluded: four motor vehicle with
no injuries; six motor vehicle
accidents involving deer; and
two motor vehicle accidents with
injuries.
• One residential fire on Tho-
mas Road was investigated.
• Deputies performed 250
business, church and residential
checks.
• Deputies investigated a busi-
ness burglary on Highway 25
North.
• Deputies investigated resi-
dential burglaries at 1816
Applewood Drive and 3371
Perkins Hilltonia Road.
• Twenty-three traffic stops
were initiated.
