X3, always

'Monster Jar Entertainment is an alternative publishing company specializing in the creation and distribution of innovative and unique storylines with deep characters.

Heard that one before, huh?

Well, hey, we tried. While the Monster Jar team could tell you how amazing our company is until we're blue in the face." let's be honest: there is nothing' we can write here that would prove our undeniable awesomeness (exceptmaybe that we had the gall to actually publish the word "awesomeness"). We're not going to claim that we're the Tolklen of graphic novels or that if you read this series you'll find the secrets of the cosmos etched in the ink of the paqes, Instead, we'd simply like to take this moment to thank you. Out of the hundreds of other things you could do in these next few minutes, you chose to give our story a chance, and that's about as much as we could have asked from a complete stranger.

What you're about to read is a piece of adventure taken from a three-part epic called ,/Ete,rnus, which has been under development for several years. We hope to give JEternus life in graphic novels, a full role-playing game, and a video game so that each of our fans can experience the world in the way that best suits him or her.

We know that any series like· IEternus are best expanded by the fans, not the writers. So, please, give us your feedback by dropping us a line atWWW.MONSTERJAR .. COM. Now, we'll can it so you can actually get to the good part

Enjoy!

Welcome to the world of IEternus ...

"Standing Death" is a single issue promotional comic depicting a short scene from Resurgam, Book II of the IEternus graphic novel. While staying true to the main plot of the larger series, this short story is taken from the unique perspective of a veteran Serridon knight, Tyrion. After weeks of fighting a losing battle against unspeakable horrors, Tyrion and his battalion of Ravens received a strange mission from

the royal seal. Tyrion can sense desparationin the King's vague orders, but knows it is their last hope for victory.

~he sun seemed to linger in the sky that day, hesitant to leave us to the darkness that would follow in its wake.

<Our strength and numbers were all but exhuasted

~hen the sun finally began its descent, I prepared to make our final mission ...

a was an old legion veteran ...

CBut what we fought each night ... what littered the battlefield each day ...

. .. these were the darkest of them all.

~e knew nothing more. Not why these travelers were of such importance or how they even ended up in this hell with us.

<£"hey were Q)enovan. Strange men from the valleys, if I dare even call them men.

except on the battlefield ...

MAD? I MUST BE MAD!

REFUSING A DIRECT ORDER FROM THE. SEAL. A DIRECT ORDER FROM ME!

~ut his reasons were greater than we could know.

<{r he King knew he asked too much of us, to defend a kin of our enemy.

Q)nly to us, the Ravens, could this be trusted.

~ut no words, not even those of a king, could have prepared us for the horrors beyond the chasms ...

04.s the first war drums chanted their dark cadences into the night, we silently began our journey through a hidden path.

... but we did not notice ...

... their eyes!

I

C}:))rithing upward like n ig htmari s h se rpe nts.

<{the hands gripped down and tore at our armor.

<{their teeth sunk through boiled leather and into flesh.

C}:))e were drowning in a sea of mud and death.

~he girl was caught off guard.

~ut the rotted limbs were no match for the Vampire's savagery in protecting the girl.

<.QUick to deal death to any who intruded upon it.

cAnd just as I thought I was being dragged into my grave ...

~he boy had saved my life.

crear can cripple men to a standing death ...

... or it can give them reason to fight on

So on we fought, through limb, bone, and teeth.

~e 9Ravens were trained to survive.

~he enemy knew we were ensared in their trap. Former friends, brothers, family ...

<t3ehind them their masters pulsed an enslaving magic into their front lines.

<ehe lines crashed together. Bone and flesh against Serridorn metal and brawn-- a sound unlike any other.

04;Jis skill was worthy of such a thought...

C!)odies and limbs exploded backward as the Vampire slammed mercilessly against the horde.

ct)ut like creatures of the night!

;£.ow guttural groans resonated off the cavern walls.

<t:orpses with unpunctured lungs stirred with new life, speaking horrible things ...

<Giant shadows began to form in the mist.

~he roars of the massive beasts shook the earth as they lumbered out from the mist with twisted faces of tortured anguish.
