PURPOSE The purpose of the program is to provide participants with detailed insights into, and a thorough understanding of the Capability Maturity Model Integration for Development (CMMI-DEV) Version 1.3, as well as insights into methods for successful organizational process improvement. NOTE This course is an SEI requirement for anyone intending to participate as a SCAMPI appraisal team member and is a pre-requisite for a variety of other SEI classes, such as the Intermediate CMMI® and the SCAMPI Lead Appraiser training. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The course will help participants:  Understand the importance of having defined processes within an engineering organization and the rationale for process improvement.  Comprehend the architecture of the CMMI® models (maturity levels, process areas, goals, and generic practices).  Gain sufficient understanding of PA components to function on a CMMI® -Based Appraisal team.  Be able to apply the CMMI® principles to meet the needs of systems engineering and software engineering organizations. PROGRAM CONTENT  Process and Maturity Model Fundamentals  CMMI® for Development - Staged Overview  Maturity Level 2 – Managed  Homework reading, 2 hours (SEI requirement)  Review of homework reading  Maturity Level 2 – Managed  Maturity Level 3 – Defined  Maturity Level 4 – Quantitatively Managed  Maturity Level 5 – Optimizing  Course Summary TARGET AUDIENCE  Systems and software engineering managers and practitioners interested in understanding the CMMI® for Systems  Engineering, Software Engineering and Integrated Product and Process Development  Assessment teams who will use the CMMI®-based assessment method (SCAMPI®)  Systems and Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG/EPG) members who are leading process improvement in their  organization  All those who must complete the SEI-Authorized Introduction to CMMI® and receive an SEI course completion certificate FACILITATOR Ms. TC Thana is Malaysia’s first and only SEI Authorized SCAMPI Appraiser and Instructor. To date, she has completed 70 Class A SCAMPI Appraisals. These were done not only in Malaysia, but in China, Taiwan and Brunei She has more than 17 years experience in various Quality Management Systems ranging from ISO 900, ISO 14000, OHSAS 18000, HACCP, ISO 17025, TS16949, CMM, CMMI v1.1 and CMMI v1.2. As of January 2011 she has already facilitated 13 SEI Authorized Introduction to CMMI training programs, both locally and overseas.
