An Enduring Cultural Transformation

An Enduring Cultural Transformation

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6 (NIV)

We see a great conflict between good and evil in our world. And if Christians do not rally to support and encourage those who are trying to bring an influence for good in civil government, it will leave a vacuum…that will be rapidly filled by powerful influences that are contrary to the standards of Scripture, the purposes of God, and the advancement of the Gospel in the world. Wayne Grudem, Ph. D. Research Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies at Phoenix Seminary

Our Biblically-Based Beliefs

Our Unique Three Capacity Strategy
Preparing Leaders

Moral, physical and spiritual absolutes exist and were given to mankind to govern all of life. The sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman is the essential element of the family and a strong family is the essential element of a strong society.

First Amendment religious liberties are critical to our freedom as a people and must be protected and defended. Parents have a fundamental right to guide their children’s lives and to responsibly direct every aspect of their education and care.

Providing Accountability

Life is a gift from God and should be protected from the time of conception to the end of natural life.

Louisiana Family Forum mobilizes churches to transform Louisiana’s political landscape so that it respects life, affirms religious liberty, preserves marriage, and strengthens families. Uniquely positioned at the center of a coalition that includes national, state, and local organizations, LFF serves as a catalyst for that change, focusing its work in areas where the culture war overlaps: Preparing Leaders – Whether it’s equipping pastors to engage the culture or training the next generation of young adults, LFF is there. Promoting Values – Making truth unavoidable and traditional values well known- even in the arenas where decisions LFF’s capacity to work in are made. all three areas of the culture war is a unique asset that Providing Accountability – Holding fully-leverages Covenant elected officials accountable for their actual relationships between Policy votes by informing the Body of Christ of Makers, Pastors and an voting records via the Legislative Scorecard Informed Public. and identifying true statesmen to advance key legislation. Promoting Values

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. John Adams October 11, 1798

Igniting Transformation
Thanks to the generous support of loyal donors, Louisiana Family Forum is making a difference for all Louisiana’s families. But there’s more to be done. Attacks from those who work to undermine Life, Liberty, Marriage, and the Family are more sophisticated, more aggressive, and more frequent than ever. “We the people” spoke loud and clear in November 2010, but that one moment, by itself, will not achieve the cultural transformation we seek. Achieving transformation requires a lasting movement working strategically in key culture-defining areas. “Ignite” is a two-year plan designed to fan the embers of November 2010 into a lasting movement built to achieve enduring cultural transformation.

Legislative Programs

Three Capacities: A Plan for Cultural Transformation

Education – Preparing Leaders
Cultural transformation begins with leadership. Leadership of all ages and backgrounds. Leadership grounded in a biblical worldview. Leadership armed with the information and skills to influence others. LFF’s educational programs work to identify, equip, and activate these leaders across Louisiana.
24 pastor briefings 2011 and 2012 Leadership Academy Weekly TV, Radio, and E-mail Communications Budget: $125,000

Legislation – Promoting Values
Cultural transformation requires a system of laws that remains true to the vision of our Founding Fathers. LFF’s legislative programs will not only ensure there’s a voice for traditional family at the capitol but also engage the faith community across Louisiana to advocate on behalf of those values.
Pass 2011 State Senate Redistricting Plan Defeat any new taxes Defend Life gains Defeat homosexual adoption and marriage Shrink size and scope of government Budget: $75,000

Providing Accountability
Cultural transformation requires elected leaders be accountable for their actions. LFF’s accountability programs serve as an antidote for political spin to insure an educated and active electorate on Election Day.

Distribute 250,000 voter guides 2011 and 2012 Legislative Scorecards Engage 1,500 pastors and churches. Budget: $ 75,000

An Enduring Cultural Transformation

A Record of Success
Thanks to the generous support of its loyal donors, LFF has a record of success and a reputation for getting results on behalf of Louisiana families. It’s upon that foundation that LFF seeks to ignite a movement that will transform the culture for generations to come.

A Voice for Traditional Families in Louisiana

LFF’s legislative programs provide a strong and respected voice for values in the legislature. Just this past session, LFF actively engaged on 32 critical pieces of legislation. By God’s grace and thanks to the generous support of loyal donors, LFF was successful in 31 of those battles – including working to pass a Religious Freedom Statute, Ultrasound Before Abortion and defeating homosexual adoptions.

Educating and Motivating Voters

LFF’s accountability programs reached thousands of voters in the 2010 elections with critical information about where candidates stood on key issues. Information was delivered on federal and state candidates through online voter guides. LFF’s 2010 Legislative Scorecard had 78 Outstanding Family Advocates.

Training Leaders for Today – And Tomorrow

The 2010 Leadership Academy sent dozens of Louisiana’s best and brightest young people to Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Boston on a heritage tour including training at the Heritage Foundation.

If Christians will decide that though they can’t do everything, they can do something and what they can do, they will do, we can change the nation. Dr. D. James Kennedy

Engaging Churches and Pastors

LFF has built a strong network of churches and pastors from numerous denominations. LFF serves this network by providing critical information about culture-defining issues and tools the pastors and churches can use to engage their congregations on those issues. LFF held a special pastor’s briefing prior to the legislative session plus monthly briefings.

You Can Help Ignite Cultural Transformation
LFF is blessed to have hundreds of supporters all across Louisiana committed to helping ignite an enduring cultural transformation. Their support and generosity is what makes LFF’s work possible. Here are three ways you can help:

LFF’s work to ignite an enduring cultural transformation must be built on a foundation of prayer. Please help by interceding for LFF’s work and asking others to do the same. Visit Intercessors for Louisiana at www.pray4govt.org.

LFF takes financial stewardship seriously and chooses not to spend thousands of dollars on advertising like organizations such as Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. LFF relies on its supporters to spread the word, so please be sure to tell your family, friends, and church leaders about how LFF is working to ignite an enduring cultural transformation in Louisiana. Sign up for Family Facts at www.lafamilyforum.org.

LFF does not accept government funding and, therefore, depends entirely on the generosity of donors to do its work. Please consider supporting LFF. A gift of $30 a month pays for the production and mass distribution of the Family Facts E-newsletter, and we need 104 of these sponsorships. A gift of $100 a month pays for a Pastor’s Round Table, and we need 24 Roundtable sponsorships.

Please Pray for Our Work
And [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.
