When: Workshops will be held Thursdays from January 27 through March 31st... Winter Break: February 24th, no session on this date Time and Location: 7:00-8:30pm, Branham HS Music Bldg. Curriculum: Snare Drum, Bass Drum, Cymbals, Tenor Drums, Mallets, and Auxillary Percussion Instruction. Required Equipment: Standard Snare Drum Sticks, metronome, and practice pad. Instructed by: Mr. Tom Wieske, Branham HS Royal Alliance Percussion Caption Head.

Drum and Percussion workshop series 2011

sponsored by the Branham High School Royal Alliance The award winning Branham High School Marching Band Drumline and Front Ensemble are pleased to invite you to participate in a special Drum and Percussion workshop series. This 9 week course will explore fundamental concepts of drumming and percussion techniques that will be utilized extensively in the fall 2011 field percussion ensembles. A sampling of content to be covered includes Stick / Mallet Control, Wrist and Finger technique, Accents and Rebounds (development of 2 Sound Levels), Syncopation, Timing, Feel, Consistency of Sound, Touch, tempo control, Subdivisions, Dynamic range, Ensemble Listening Skills/ Awareness and much more. The course is offered free of charge and is open to incoming 8th graders from Dartmouth and Ida Price as well as current and prospective members of the Royal Alliance Marching Band Drumline and Front Ensemble. Student registration will take place on the first night of sessions, January 27th. Materials required: Pair of Drumsticks, Metronome, Practice pad and stand. If you do not currently own a practice pad and/or stand, don’t worry. At the first session we’ll discuss options and make recommendations on obtaining the appropriate items for continuing sessions. Sticks, pads and stands represent a nominal cost, however no one will be turned away from this program due to economic circumstances.
