What is PACS?
Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is mainly used for medical purpose to
transfer/diagnose patients x-ray and other images related to their treatment. The image format
supported with this PACS is called DICOM. This image format is internationally approved and
widely accepted by all the medical institutes.
What is DICOM?
As mentioned above, DICOM is a specific image format which is associated with the PACS
system. All the medical terms and images stored in the PACS system are stored in the format of
DICOM. There are many special features with this particular image format. We will be explaining

IPTS 2007
