Visitors Generate More Than 3 Billion Page Views During Last Year's Fourth Quarter
Newspaper Web sites continued to demonstrate their ability to command the attention of Web users as they attracted an average monthly unique audience of 72 million visitors in the fourth quarter of 2009, more than one-third (37 percent) of all Internet users. The findings, part of a custom analysis provided by Nielsen Online for the Newspaper Association of America, also indicated that newspaper Web site users generated more than 3.2 billion page views during the quarter, spending more than 2.4 billion minutes browsing the sites. "These strong and consistent audience figures come as newspaper publishers continue to transition their companies into multiplatform content providers to meet the needs of today's audience," said NAA President and CEO John F. Sturm. "As the economy begins to stabilize, newspaper companies are in position to leverage their trusted brands to reach a highly engaged audience and deliver maximum value to advertisers."

These audience figures reflect Nielsen's introduction of its new methodology, part of an effort to provide a significantly larger sample size, which allows more newspaper Web sites to be reported with greater depth and granularity. As a result of this change, comparisons with prior year reports are not statistically valid. Further details on this new methodology are available at the conclusion of this release.

United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to Host 20th Annual Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C.
March event hosts top elected officials and highlights key policy issues affecting the Hispanic business community
The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) will host its 20th Annual Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., from March 22 - 24, 2010. Still celebrating its 30th anniversary, the USHCC offers this unique three-day event, which will provide participants with an unparalleled opportunity to hear directly about today's urgent policy and business concerns from key administration officials and top legislators representing the full political spectrum. The dynamic workshops will address the practical implications for business owners of such issues as financial services reform, green energy, broadband internet, telecommunications regulation and access to capital. Participants cap-off the Summit with ample time to visit elected representatives on Capitol Hill. David C. Lizárraga, USHCC Chairman of the Board said: "So many of the rules and regulations that will impact small businesses for a generation are being designed and debated in Washington right now. The Hispanic business community and its allies must be at the table to ensure those changes provide opportunities and do not pose obstacles." He emphasized that to be included and represented effectively, the Hispanic business community must deepen relationships in Congress and maintain a high profile with key decision makers on Capitol Hill and the Administration. "This Legislative Summit is the perfect forum for that," added Lizárraga. "I encourage everyone from the executive suite to the neighborhood store to join fellow Hispanic business owners and the leaders of Hispanic chambers of commerce from around the country in advocating for those issues that impact our community," said Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the USHCC. "Participation at this event is critical to effectively convey our views and show strength in unity and numbers. We must speak up, be heard and be counted on those policies now

CHCI and Walmart Partner to Create Year-Round Internships for Latino Undergraduates
CHCI Welcomes First Ever Spring Congressional Internship Class
The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), the nation's premier Latino youth leadership development and educational organization, today announced the arrival of its first ever spring Congressional Internship class. The class represents the first of CHCI's new year-round internship program thanks to a $1 million donation from Walmart. "CHCI seeks to increase diversity on Capitol Hill and expose Latino youth to the inner workings of the federal government," said Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez, CHCI Chair. "Building on the past success of the Congressional Internship program, we are proud to be working year-round to create pathways for our future leaders." "I want to welcome the Walmart/CHCI Congressional Internship students to Washington," said Ivan Zapien, senior director for Federal government affairs for Walmart. "At Walmart, we value and encourage diversity of thought and background in our stores, Sam's Clubs, and offices. We hope this semester will give the first class of eight students a broad view of our government and a rich and diverse experience that will shape them as leaders." Walmart's support will allow CHCI to eventually triple the number of Latino youth who will have the opportunity to work on Capitol Hill each year as part of its award-winning Congressional Internship program. CHCI Spring Congressional Intern and Bronx, New York native Limer Batista is ready to get to work. "There is no better experience for a student than to be placed in a congressional office for 12 weeks. It's the hands on experience I have been longing for, and now I can finally do it. I am sure this internship will exceed my expectations and enhance my leadership skills."
