Fairness for Families

Fairness for Families
Families are doing it tough. I know we need to do more to help ease the cost of living pressures families face.
My fully costed, fully funded, 4 point Fairness for Families Act will help ease the financial pressure on families across NSW. That’s why I need your vote on Saturday 26 March to make this plan law.

“ This isn’t just another promise. It will be the law.”

1. Capping major fees and charges
We will introduce a law capping increases in major fees and charges to the rate of inflation. We will cap Stamp Duties, Land Tax, Motor Vehicle Taxes, Recreational Fishing Licenses, National Park Entry Fees, Drivers License Fees and Vehicle Registration Fees.

2. Capping public transport fares
In 2010, we ruled out any increase in public transport fares for 2011. Now we will ensure there are no increases above the rate of inflation for the next 4 years.

3. Keeping our water in public hands
We will not sell Sydney Water, Hunter Water or the State Water Corporation. When the Liberal Government in South Australia privatised its urban water system, water bills skyrocketed by 59%! NSW families can’t afford that, so we will keep our water in public hands.

4. Providing a $250 annual Energy Rebate
Electricity prices are set to increase over the next few years and governments must take action to help families. That’s why we will provide an Energy Rebate of $250 a year for all households earning up to $150,000. The detailed plan and what it means for your family is available at www.fairnessforfamilies.com.au
