VIRTUAL COLLECTION GUIDELINES

Project Due Friday, September 19, 2008

REQUIREMENTS:
You are required to take pictures of and correctly identify ONLY 10 specimens. The specimens can be a
combination of animals, plants and insects (no more or no less).

Project Requirements
 Your specimens are to pictures you take on a digital camera from around your house or community.
You are not to use pictures from the internet.
 You will list the common name of specimen, date and location of picture used.
 You will list the Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species for each specimen.
 You will list the following information about each of your specimens:
 Feeding – heterotroph or autotroph
 Mode of Reproduction – sexual or asexual or both
 Cell Type – prokaryotic or eukaryotic
 # of Cells – unicellular or multicellular
 Energy Source – cellular respiration or photsynthesis
 Body Shape – animals (radial or symmetrical) plants (monocot or dicot)

 Prepare a project containing your findings. The project can be in an electronic format such as (word,
PowerPoint or moviemaker). If you choose it can also be completed using construction paper and glue.
It is your choice on how you want to present your collection.

GRADING PROCEDURE:
Picture of 10 DIFFERENT specimens (1 pts each) 10 points
Correct order identification (7 pts each) 70 points
Required information facts (6 pts each) 60 points
Common name, date and location (3 points) 30 points
Neatness/Attractiveness/Attention to Detail 10 points
TOTAL 180 points
