Disc Centrifuge Yosporn Permpeian Department of Chemistry 2010

This lab experiment is about the ability of disc centrifuge in separation of solid-liquid and liquid-liquid solution and to find the component composition of the solution by using laboratory centrifuge and heating oven. We used the coconut milk as a solution to begin. This lab experiment begins with the clarification to separate the solid particles out of coconut milk. We find out that solid particles were almost 4.94% of coconut milk. Then we continued with the clarified coconut milk by passing it though the purification process, which it will be separate the heavier particle and lighter particle from the colloidal-like coconut milk. We set most of the variables constant example numbers of disc, speed of disc rotation etc. But only one variable that change in each test, which is volumetric flow rate. The low flow rate can separated each component perfectly apart better than high flow rate. Then we can find the composition of each component by using the laboratory

in clarified coconut milk was 86.99%.72%.98% of coconut cream. we now know the process of clarification. Then another method to find the composition of water by using heating oven had been used. In low flow rate we found 47. purification and separation. . Able obtain the knowledge of how-to and use it with as in chemical engineering skill.02%. and 52. In high flow rate we found 63. and in purified coconut milk with high flow rate was 69. The composition of water in fresh coconut milk was 75. and 36.02% of water.31%.16% of coconut oil.B centrifuge.84% of coconut cream. in purified coconut milk with low flow rate was 23. With this experiment.
