Battling ropes Training System Progressions

The compliance Solution: How to get Even your Toughest clients to follow the rules

In the fitness industry we often joke that clients are always looking for the “magic pill”. But here’s the real joke: even if such a pill existed, clients wouldn’t actually take it. You see, compliance – people’s willingness to do what they know they should – is a critical problem here in the fitness industry (The Medical Industry too: Miracle cancer and diabetes drugs prescribed by MDs are taken a shockingly low 55% of the time). In this presentation, Dr. Berardi shares proven strategies for getting your clients - even the most non-compliant ones – to do more of what you ask them to do when it comes to training and nutrition. (Lecture Only) (Chicago, Long Beach)

Learn how to implement the Battling Ropes training system into effective progressive workouts that will guarantee results for your clients, teams or groups. You will learn new and different concepts of the Battling Ropes system, which will greatly enhance the abilities of athletes and fitness professionals of all levels. You will see first hand the power generation aspect of the system and why it is an absolute must for anyone who wants to increase their work capacity levels and develop the winning edge in their chosen sport or battlefield. Long-Term Sports Training development Models

Training young athletes CANNoT be about “hard work”, “6-weeks” or “increased vertical power”. Long-term athlete development is a model for systematic and practical improvement over time and in concert with biological and psychological growth factors. You absolutely MUST look at training young athletes like school – a progressive model of education that begins with a broad exposure to multiple elements and eventually leads to specific protocol. The four Quadrants of Lifting

1. fascial fitness

The five Biggest Mistakes I Made in the Personal Training Business

Ever since weightlifting went from being demonized as both bad for the body and leading to moral laxity to “the answer to all questions,” those of us in the field (or the weight room) have been assaulted with wave after wave of the Answer. It’s a simple question, really: “What is the role of the strength coach?” The answer is obvious: it is to make people stronger! Ah, but what is the impact? Now, this is the real question, the important question. When we actually use a tool to figure this out and apply it to our training, an amazing clarity emerges into our training! (Providence, Long Beach)

1. Painful Backs: cause, corrective Exercises and Progressions to Performance
Dr. Mcgill will explain and address the cause with corrective and therapeutic exercises. Learn the patterns that cause back troubles together with some corrective approaches, logical progressions and guidelines for success.

What does research tell us about how to train the fascial system? What’s actually happening under the foam roller? What are fascia’s responses to training? how does fascia remodel in response to different forms of training and injury? Tom Myers brings out the latest findings about the ‘Cinderella’ of body tissues in the musculoskeletal system: the fascial network. When we train the muscles and coordination, we are also training the fascia, so we may as well be conscious about how it responds and becomes more resilient and healthy. (Lecture Only)

get fast, get fit: Speed Training for Every client

Propriobility: creating Movement awareness Within a constant changing Environment
Proprioceptors are a feedback mechanism throughout the body, and propriobility is our ability to interact with the environment. It is imperative as trainers, coaches, teachers and health care professionals that we improve our ability to position our clients for success with the enhancement of proprioceptive responses. During this course we will discuss ways to improve movement awareness whether we are dealing with a grade school, high school or college and professional athlete. Proprioceptors are the key to movement awareness, human performance and injury prevention. (Chicago)

Movements, not Muscles: a Multi-Planar Training approach to Training

“The body knows only movement, not muscle.” Challenge the staples of traditional program organization and move your training to a new level. This revolutionary workshop takes the elemental value of “functional training” and puts it into practice. Learn a complete movement based training approach that will increase results, reduce injuries and develop stronger motor patterns in your clients and athletes. Follow the theory up with a full Planar Training protocol that illustrates the power and effectiveness of this training approach. (Providence)

The human body was designed for speed, but many of us do not add this training modality into our sessions. The lecture will simplify concepts of sprint technique, strength training and speed training protocols so that every trainer can deliver results like muscle gain, improved coordination and fat loss for any client. The hands-on session will demonstrate Martin’s signature speed drills to fulfill any person’s need for speed. This dynamic session is one you don’t want to miss. (Providence, Chicago, Long Beach)

Medicine Balls and Multi-directional Speed Training

We often use drills and more drills to train our athletes on multidirectional speed, but what we need to do is know how to increase the skill of multi-directional speed. Come and watch Lee demonstrate hoW and WhY he uses medicine balls to increase the correct loading and unloading of the kinetic chain for multi-directional speed. Proper body alignment, summation or parts, and finishing the movement are all key components to increasing a devastating first step in all direction. You won’t want to miss out on these techniques! (Providence, Chicago)

athletic Profiling: choosing the Periodization System to Maximize Individual athletic Performance

Trimming the fat on functional Training for female athletes

aL VErMEIL cScS
• President of Vermeil Sports & Fitness Inc. • Former Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Chicago Bulls • Only Strength & Conditioning Coach to have World Championship rings from both the NFL and the NBA • Al was honored in 2003 by being one of the initial inductees to the Strength Coaches Hall of Fame • His knowledge and implementation of new techniques and training methods have made Vermeil’s programs highly visible and respected throughout the sports world

In the fitness industry we currently use functional training on most mainstream gym floors and we have developed thousands of exercises to fit the “functional” or “sport-specific” realm. Now, it’s time to zero-in on making functional training choices that keep female athletes on a direct path toward exponential gains, high-level performance and, ultimately, results. This presentation will give you the “skinny” on applying more effective progressions for female athletes through real-life, targeted examples that will immediately boost your training success. (Long Beach)

Periodization has become a standard in western strength and conditioning, but depending on who is asked it is used and defined in many different ways. This presentation is based on a review of the available research and seeks to categorize periodization into three distinct categories based on the level/needs of the athlete. Underpinning research will be discussed in addition to very specific training recommendations based on each periodization profile being presented. Whether you work with the general population or high level athletes, if you are looking for the ability to optimize individualization and the time to reach designated goals, then this presentation will provide critical insights. An athlete’s ability to move and dominate their space can be described using a Spherical Model. An individual’s functional sphere is determined by the size of that space in which they move (3D Flexibility/Mobility), the control of movement within that space (3D Stability/Balance), the overall integrity of the sphere (3D Strength/Power). great athletes have learned to master these fundamentals to dominate their space and exploit their environment. A coordinated approach to the development of these components must be implemented in order to perform at a high level and lead a healthy life. Todd will define the Spherical Model of Training, define the system’s parts, and explain how to develop its qualities. Movements such as squatting, lunging, pivoting, leaping, jumping, hopping, lifting and rowing will be 3 dimensionalized in order to create an adaptable and resilient sphere. (Providence, Chicago, Long Beach)

Speed: The Ultimate Weapon

Al will break down the speed continuum, from initial acceleration to transition and absolute speed. he will present a training plan that describes how to apply the correct training methods and volumes to each phase and show you how to utilize this plan for various sports. The hands-on will cover the mechanics of lifting, medicine ball throws, plyometrics and speed drills. You will learn how these drills change during each phase of the speed continuum. (Chicago)

While there are few that would argue that evaluating and training the core is a critical piece to rehab and training, there are also very few that can identify and agree on common definitions, methods, or stereotypes of a “strong core”. This presentation will review some of the contemporary biomechanical, neurodevelopmental, and neuromuscular views of what the core can mean. The goal will be to reconcile best-practice in addressing the impact on training the core and spinal stability. (Chicago)

regress Before Progress: Strategies for Post rehabilitation Program design

Clients released from rehabilitation into the fitness “functional” environment often are progressed too quickly and do not have the foundational movement “big rocks” that need to be restored. Develop a regressive approach to common movements and progress the client with strategies to allow the foot and ankle complex, hip, and thoracic spine to gain motion in three planes that is conductive for efficient, economical, and successful movement patterns. Learn how to regress lunge, squat, abdominal and shoulder exercises from the post-rehabilitation phase to a progressive, dynamic movement pattern

Breaking the fatigue cycle

When it comes to fatigue, many of your clients are “surviving” not “thriving”! Fatigue is the most common health complaint that people bring to their doctors. Your client can’t benefit from your well-designed fitness program if they are running on empty. In this presentation, Robert will teach you how to recognize the signs and symptoms of fatigue and will explore the common pitfalls that people make when it comes to nutrition. You will walk away with simple nutritional strategies to enhance your client’s energy level on and off the field. (Lecture Only) (Long Beach)

Barefoot Training – Benefits, Pitfalls and Progressions
