American Advertising Federation- Mid-Missouri Awards KOMU 8 Two ADDYs COLUMBIA, MO – KOMU 8 received one gold and one silver ADDY Award from the American Advertising Federation- Mid-Missouri. The awards were presented at the annual ADDY Award Banquet the evening of February 11th. “It is an honor to be recognized at the ADDY Awards,” said KOMU 8 General Manager Marty Siddall, “We are very proud to receive awards that reflect how hard-working and talented our staff is.” KOMU 8 placed in the following categories:

Local Television,:15 or less: KOMU 8 received a gold ADDY for Service Evolution “Service Noodle- The Noodle Is Here”. Staff members that were recognized for this award included Rusty Brent, concept; Dan Lee, graphic animation; Scott Maledy, final cut editor and Gerry Blaise, account executive.

Local Television,:30: KOMU 8 received a silver ADDY for Poppy “Poppy- Baby”. Staff members that were recognized for this award included Dave Hargis, final cut editor; Shelly Silvey, concept and graphics and Steve Alexander, announcer.

The American Advertising Federation’s ADDY Award program is the only creative awards program administered for the advertising industry by the advertising industry.

KOMU 8 is a self-funded auxiliary enterprise of the University of Missouri. The station serves a dual purpose within the community. KOMU 8 provides the public with news and entertainment programming while also serving as an educational institution for students of the University of Missouri. The KOMU 8 newsroom is the only one of its kind to also serve as a teaching lab. At KOMU 8, students attending the prestigious University of Missouri School of Journalism are given the unique opportunity to work alongside professional journalists in a real-life newsroom. This program is set up through the school’s Department of Broadcast Journalism. KOMU 8 also operates Mid Missouri’s CW station. -30-
