Nearly 40,000 Doctors of Indian origin provide health care to half of the UK population

BAPIO, a national voluntary organisation based in the United Kingdom was launched in 1998 by the then Minister of State for Health in the British Government. BAPIO has represented doctors from the Indian Subcontinent working in the National Health Service and over the years, has grown in stature and influence. It is represented across the country through its 9 divisions, including Scotland and Wales. It has established excellent relations with British statutory bodies and medical organisations. There are an estimated 40,000 doctors of Indian origin working in the United Kingdom. The next generation of Indians in the U.K. have a dominating presence in Medical and Dental schools. We take pride in our vision: “Empowering doctors and dentists of Indian heritage to be Beacons of Leadership and Professional Excellence”. To this purpose, the Association holds a number of high profile national and regional Conferences and Seminars as part of its Educational and Skills development efforts. Each year, BAPIO hosts an “Awards Ceremony” to celebrate achievements of Professional Excellence and Leadership followed by a dinner and cultural programme.

British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin is holding its Annual Conference: NHS- In the next decade, a landmark event in Birmingham on 4-5th June 2011. The event is expected to attract over 1,000 doctors representing various specialties and prominent professionals from the Health Care sector. It is a unique occasion for medical and non-medical organisations, from both statutory and private sectors to network with us as partners for mutual benefit. The interactive conference will be followed by BAPIO’s Awards ceremony, dinner and entertainment. It is an excellent opportunity for networking with a large number of doctors for promoting your service and products.
