PROGRAM: Tonight’s speaker was the Honorable Judge Richard Vlavianos. He talked about what is going on in the court system today. He oversees the drug and DUI courts. Their current program is hands on and personal with each defendant. He currently has about 1000 people in case management and four case managers of which Joe Larranaga, Jr. is one of them. Rather than just putting them in jail, they go to drug court and have to report their

This year the Linden Lions Club Board of Directors has voted to support the selection of two nominees for the prestigious Melvin Jones Award. The proceeds for these costs will be delegated to SIGHT FIRST II. Voting will commence at the next Lions meeting on January 25th and a second chance will be allowed on February 8th for those members that didn’t vote on the 25th. Please attend and VOTE!!!

Son of Lois Hammond Renwick and Wilke Richard Renwick born in Stockton, CA 92 years ago. WM lived a full and event filled life. He wore many hats; dentist, farmer, jazz drummer, canoeist, mentor, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. WM was a 5th generation Stocktonian. He graduated from Victory School and from Stockton High School. He attended Davis Ca and Washington State Colleges and College of the Pacific. He graduated from College of Physicians and Surgeons, a dental school in San Francisco that was later affiliated with University of the Pacific. For many years he headed the dental clinic at San Joaquin County General Hospital. He was always advancing his knowledge of dentistry. In 1950 he was called to the war in Korea. In 1954 he bought land and planted a cherry orchard on Eight Mile Road and built the home where he passed away Dec. 31. He was a founder of the San Joaquin Dixieland Jazz Society. He opened several Stockton Ports Baseball seasons with his beloved Mudville's Finest Jazz Band. When he could no longer travel and canoe he wrote two books, one about his great grandfather Reason McConnell, who shot the outlaw Black Bart. His second book was about his canoe trip up the Inland Passage to Alaska with his friend Martin Moore. He was a 46 year member of the Linden Lions Club. Left to mourn his passing his wife of 52 years, Eunice; brother Wilke of Florence, OR; children: Susan Bruce (Ben) of Maui, Michael of Chico, William of Arizona, Tim and James of Stockton; grandchildren: Joey Ratto, Dee Dee Ratto, Michalyn Renwick, Katy Green, Joshua Renwick and Rachael Renwick; niece Maggie Kennedy; nephew Wilke Renwick and 5 great grandchildren. There will be a celebration of his life on March 13, "His Birthday" 1 p.m. at The Waterloo Gun and Bocci Club, 4343 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton.
