Please refer to your letter of 16 January, 2007 regarding your
concerns about creation of Special Tourism Zones in our country. I
wish to clarify to you at the outset that this subject matter eame up
as a matter of recommendation by a member of the National
Tourism Advisory CounCil at its last meeting on 27th November.1
2006. These recommendations have 110 mandatory force. As r had
categorically mentioned in the Parliament the Ministry of Tourism
has not taken any decision in this regard.

Secretary (Tourism, was only suggcsting at the FHRAI

meeting that the existing tourism destinations should be developed
in an integrated manner. His view seems to have been
misunderstood; it has notiling to do with establishment of Special
Tourism Zones.
