I am requesting Alan Kirchhoff to replacethe Director's position soon to bevacated by Mark Ellison" effective October 2, 2008, Alan has served as the Deputy Director of the fund since its creation in June 2005. Alan has shown the leadership abilities to move this p~ogram forward and has the knowledge and history of the fund to maintain continuity lind t.Q stay the course .for success, The Emerging Technology Fund is a very unique program that. has a regional' approach to the selection process of the investmenfs. That regional 'approach consist~ oJ reg-renal centers of innovation and " commerclalization (ReIe) that.,were formed by the fOtindiilg legisbti9I1. Today those Rele's consists . of over 400 stakeholdets from. industry, Insrlmrlons of higher education; investors, entrepreneurs. economic development professional and otbers that participate in the nurturing, mentorlng and selecting companies to receive consideration for funding. It is imperative that the director of the. fund has strong relationships Y'lith these stakeholders which Alan bas built over the-past 3 years. In closing, Alan Kirchhoff has shown over that last 3 years of the development of the fund, that he has the vision, Integrity •.relationships and 1~8dership abilities to ta.kethe fund to (he next level. I feel Mr. Kirchhoff is the best candidate for this position a.nd: w~JIoffe{: continuity as we continue with the success of me fund, I am recommending Mr. Kirchhofrs' starting salary associated with his new responsibilities be $90,000 per year.
