COMMUNITY BRAINSTORM

The Tennessean Media Group
The goal: Curate a collaborative space for the community to brainstorm ideas for solving community problems. The space is dynamic and literally changes appearance based on how the community prioritizes problems and collaborates to solve them. Individual users receive credit and other tangible incentives to participate, including print publication. Success is measured by audience engagement, community improvements and by meeting financial goals. The space: • Encourages users to suggest solutions to problems (rather than gripe or rant) • Encourages users to piggyback on others' solutions through collaboration • Encourages users to raise their hand to help, through time, money or other means • Connects people who have ideas with people who want to support those ideas • Honors and rewards users for helping. • Provides tangible as well as fun incentives for participating, including: print publication, dissemination of ideas to policy makers, and badges / reward system for quality contributors • Provides sponsorship opportunities for advocacy advertisers, political advertisers and neighborhood groups As users contribute ideas, feedback and help toward different problems, "rooms" conveying those problems change physical size to reflect the level of attention brought to the topic. In addition, the more users collaborate and help the community, the more the overall look of the site changes to reflect the positive energy. Inspiration: • Think “SeeClickFix for issues” • With a little dose of Good2Gether • And Foursquare mayors of community goodwill
