The Structure of Modern Perfumes Virtually all modern perfumes are constructed of chords – combinations of scents with roughly

the same volatility – that harmonize or create esthetically interesting discords. Conventionally, these chord are divided into the low-volatility base note, high-volatility top or head notes, and middle or heart notes of intermediate volatility. Common Base notes
