I am so excited that we have adopted our manatee! Her name is Amanda, and she lives at Homosassa Springs. She was rescued on Christmas Day in 1973, and is the mother of two other manatees at the park. Our class had a great discussion about all the manatees we could adopt, and we decided to adopt her. Now we are ready to go and visit her. Our field trip to Homosassa Springs State Park is planned and ready to go. We will be going on Tuesday March 22nd. Remember this field trip is out of school hours, we will be leaving at 8:00 am so please be here by 7:45, and we will be returning at 4:00 pm. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up by 4:00pm. The cost is free for the students, but I do ask that you send in $3 spending money ahead of time. We will hold this money for your child. We do have enough chaperones for the field trip, but everyone is welcome to attend, the more the merrier! The cost for chaperones is $5. Please send in all money as soon as possible.
