THESE ARE AVAIlABLE ATTHE PlAN SALES OFFICE, 1ST FLOOR, 50 WOLF ROAD,ALBANY, NY 12232, TELEPHONE (SiB} 457-2124, OR ON THEIR WEBSITE. THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD BECOME fAMIlIAR WITH THE CURRENT UPOA TES TO THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS ON THE NYSDOT WEBSITE.

7. THE INTENT Of' THIS SIDEWALK RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IS TO MAINTAIN THE EXISTING BACK OF SIDEWALK ELEVATIONS. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY ALL GRADES PRIOR TO THE REMOVAL AND RECONSTRUCTION OF SECTIONS OF SIDEWALK. AND CURBS. NO GRADING PLAN IS INCWDECl WITH THE CONTRACT PlANS. SIDEWALK RAMPS MUST BE lNSTALLED CONSISTENT WITH ADA REQUIREMENTS AND MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH TRUNCATED DOME TILE It-ISERTS. THE CONTRACTOR RESPONS1BlE FOR THE iNSTALlATION OF DECORATNE BRICKIBWESTONE ANDIOR CONCRETE SIDEWALKS, CURBS, ETC. IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A GENERAl CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FROM THE CITY Of KlNGSTON (CITY CLERK'S OFFICE).

a. 1tlE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTE THAT CURB REVEALS MAY VARY AND SPECIAL CARE IS REQUIRED FOR THE SEITING OF NEW CURBS. THE CONTRACT PlANS INDlGATE AREAS WHERE EXISTING BLUESTONE CURBS HAVE EITHER BROKEN OR SETTLED, OR 80TH. THESE CURBS ARE TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED WITH NEW CURBS. THE NEW TOp·OF-CURB ELEVATION SHALL ALIGN SMOOTHLY WITH ADJACENT SECTlONS OF CURB TO REMAIN AND MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE ALONG THE PROfiLE OF mE STREET.

9. ALL SIDEWALKIROADWAY LIMITS SHALL BE SAW-CUT IN CONFORMANCE WITH NYSDOT SPECIFICATIONS.

COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS OPERATION SHALL BE INCLUDED WITH THE SIDEWAlK RESTORATION ITEMS NOTED ON THE DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR SHAll ENSURE POSITIVE DRAINAGE OF THE SlDEWALKS SUCH THAT WATER IS DIRECTED AWAY FROM PRIVATE PROPERTY TOWARDS THE STREET.

10. THE CONTRACTOR MUST COORDINATE ON- GOING CONSTRUCTION WITH INSTAlLATION OF IMPROVEMENTS TO TIlE SIDEWALK UGHTING SYSTEMS AND NEW ElECTRICAL OUTLETS INSTALLED UNDER THE REHABILITATED WOODEN PORTICO STRUCTURE UNDER A SEPARATE CONTRACT. CONTRACTOR MUST ENSURE EXISTING POWER SOURCE HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED AND STUBBED OUT BEFORE WORK BEGINS ON DEMOLITION OF EX[STING LIGHTING SYSTEM. ALL WORK MUST BE PERFORMED BY LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS IN ACCORDANCE'WITH THE CITY'S BUILDING CODE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH LOCAL RECmtCAL UTILITY COMPANY AS REQUIRED TO ENSURE THAT LIGHTING SYSTEMS ARE 80m FUNCTIONAl AND WEll PROTECTED DURlNG CONSTRUCTION.

11. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING TEMPORARY UGHTING DURING CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS AS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN PUBLIC SAFETY. BOTH THE EXSITING AND NEW UNDER.PORTICO SIDEWAlK AND STREET LIGHTING SySltMS SHAlL REMAlN FUNCTIONAL AND IN OPERATION EACH EVEN[NG THROUGHOUT THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD. CONTRACTORS SHAll BE SUBJECT TO A FINE OF $2501DA Y FOR fAILURE TO PROVIDE A FUNCTIONAL LIGHTING SYSTEM (TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT) IN PlACE. AS DESIGNATED WITHIN THE PLANS, THE CONTRACTOR SHAll INSTALL A TEMPORARY SYSTEM WHEN AND WHERE NEEDED.

12. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT THE FINAL ROADWAY SURFACES ARE UNIFORMLY SMOOTIl AND PROVIDE POSITIVE DRAINAGE INCLUDING AREAS WHERE ASPHAlT ROADWAYS ARE SAW-CUT, EXCAVATED AND THEN RESTORED TO FACIUTATE ClJRB REPlACEMENT.

13. THE ESTIMATED QUANTITIES UTlllZED FOR THIS B[D WERE DEVELOPED BASED ON PLANS AMD FIELD MEASUREMENTS. BIDDERS SHALL VERIFY THESE QUANTiTIES PRIOR TO BIDDING. THE CITY DOES NOT GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OF THE ESTiMATED QUANTITIES. ACTUAl QUANTITIES MAY VARY SIGNIFICANTLY

DUE TO HELD CONDITIONS ENCOUNTERED. .

14. CONTRACTOR WILL RESTORE !REPLACE ANY DAMAGED OR DISTURBED PROPERTY (INCLUDING fACADE OF BUilDINGS) TO A CONDITION THAT lS EQUAL TO OR BETTER THAN WHAT ORIGINALLY EXISTED AND TO THE SATISFACTION OF ENGI NEER OR ARCHITECT IN CHARGE. THIS lNLCUDES RESTORATION OF BUIlDING FACADES EXPOSED BY THE RELOCATION OF THE ROOf LINE AND/OR DAMAGED BY THE CONTRACTORS ON-GOING CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATIONS.

MAINTENANCE & PROTECTION OF TRAFFIC NOTES

1. DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN VEHICULAR TRAFFIC AND TO PROVIDE SAFE ACCESS FOR RESIDENTS. IN NO CASE SHAll MORE THAN HALF THE ROADWAY BE SHUT DUR1NG THE WORKING DAY. IF CONDITIONS ARE SUCH THAT A GUTTER AR8I.IS LEFT IN A DISRUPTED OR UNSAfE CDNDITION BETWEEN OPERATIONS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROV1DETEMPORARY ASPHALT RAMPS AT ALL WALI&AYS TO ACCOMMODATE PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ON SITE AT ALL TIMES AMPLE BARRICADES (LIT) TO PROPERtY CORDON OFF HAZARDOUS AREAS, THE ROADWAY MUST BE MADE PASSABLE DURING ALL NON-WORKING HOURS. THE CONTRACTOR SHAlL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING THE CITY OF KINGSTON POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS, THE MAYOR'S OFRCE. THE LOCAl SCHOOL DISTRICT. AS WELL AS All IMPACTED PROPERTY OWNERS REGARDING PROPOSED SHUTDOWNS FORTI-EIGHT (48) HOURS PRIOR TO SUCH ACTIVITIES. THE ULTIMATE RESpoNSiBILITY FOR INSUR!NG FOR SAFE ROADWAY AND SIDEWALK CONDITIONS IS ASS[GNED TO THE SELECTED CONTRACTOR.

2. ALL MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION OF TRAFF!C WORK (WORK ZONE TRAFFIC CONTROL) SHALL CONFORM TO THE LATEST FEDERAL HIGHWAYS MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES (M.U,T.C.O), THE N.Y.S. SUPPLEMENT TO THE M.u.T.C.o .. ALL TEMPORARY SIGN3 SHAlL BE TO MUTCD STANDARDS, EXACT WORDING TO BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER CONTRACTOR TO SUPPLY AND INSTAll ALL SIGNS AND OTHER DEVICES FOR WARNtNG, CONTROLLING , ROUTING, DIRECTI MG AND DETOURING TRAFFIC AS ORDERED BY THE ENGINEER COST INCLUDED IN PRICE BID FOR ITEM 619.01

3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT AN MPT PLAN TO THE CITY FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL THERE SHALL BE NO SEPARATE PAYMENT FOR ITEMS RELAllNG TO TRAFFIC CONTROl, ALL WORK TO BE PAID UNDER ITEM B19.01

4. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ONE MOV!NG lANE Of TRAfFIC (IN EACH DIRECTION WHERE STREETS AAETWO-WAY) AT ALL TIMES. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A MINIMUM FIVE FOOT WlOE WALIf:NAY FOR PEDESTRIANS ON AT LEAST ONE SIDE Of THE STREET, AND SHALL PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE ANDIOR PROTECTED WALKWAYS TO REDIRECT PEDESTRIANS WHERE NECESSARY.

5. SIDEWALK WORK SHALL NOT BE PERFORMED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE STR,EET SIMULTANEOUSLY UNLESS APPROVED BY THE: CITY. PEDESTRIANS SHALL BE PROTECTED FROM EXCAVATED AREAS AND WORK AREAS THROUGH THE USE OF AN APPROVED TEMPORARY FENCE ORAS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER.

6. ACCESS TO AlL ABUTTING PROPERT!ES SHALL BE MAINTAINED AT ALl TIMES

1. WORK HOUR RESTRICTIONS: TO BE DETERMINED. AT A MINIMUM, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT WORK ON SATURDAYS WHEN THE FARMERS MARKET IS IN SESSION.

8. CONTRACTOR SHAll MAINTAIN PARKING ON AT LEAST ONE SIDE OF THE STREET AT AlL TIMES, OR AS ORDERED BY THE ENGlNEER. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORD!NATE WITH THE ClTY REGARDING ANY TEMPORARY CHANGES TO PARKING REGULATIONS, AND SHALL PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SIGNAGE FOR SAME

9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALl NOT BE PERMITIED TO STORE CONSTRUCTION MATERiAlS WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS.

ALL EXCAVATIONS TO BE COVERED AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY.

10. AlL TRAFFlC AND PEDESTRlAN SIGNALS SHALL BE MAINTAINED OPERAnONAl AT All TIMES.

11. DURING THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE ALL NECESSARY PROVISIONS INCLUDING TEMPORARY PLATFORMS AND BRIDGES TO Ai.lOW BUSINESSES TO OPERATE AND mow EASY ACCESS FOR PEDESTRIANS AND VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES.
