During my training report in Cherng Tay, I have learned the following things, About the machine- during my training I have visited the printOpack exhibition held in Pragati Maidan. There I came to know about the different machines like Kolbus, Heidelberg, and Welbound etc. I have seen the whole printing procedure. That exhibition gave me a huge experience. After the exhibition I have visited IPP, Noida for trial run. How glue run in a particular machine, I was able to know that. I have seen the Kolbus binding machine. During my traning time Mr. Lee taught me about the working procedure of the machine. I was able to know the following things, Glue tank- glue tank where the glue is kept for melting. This is the tank where glue is paste into the books. The glue is transferred to the tank from the glue melter. On the glue tank I have seen also the rollers. Rollers- there are 3 types of rollers. Roller A, B and C Roller A- roller A is use to put the glue on the book. The roller looks like bigger in size. Distance between roller A and the book is .5 mm Roller B- Roller B is used to push the glue more inside the notch. More deep into the book so that the binding will be good. Distance between roller B and the book is 2mm Glue cutter- another thing I have learned is glue clutter. Glue cutter is kept along the Roller A. the function of the glue cutter is to make the layer thin on the roller A Roller C- roller C is kept a bit above the other two rollers. This roller act as to remove the extra glue from the book. Distance between roller C and the book is 1.5 mm The other thing I have learned is about the setting time. The setting time of the glue is the time required from the glue is applied on the book till the cover put on it. Notching- during my training time I have learned about the notches also. The notches are done on the pages for making the binding strong. The notching is useful for the books of more than 1 cm volume. In uncoated paper having the weight of 100 gsm below the depth of notches should be at least 0.7-1 mm. and the distance between the notches should be 8-10 mm
And the paper above 100gsm the notching depth should be 1. In the training period Mr.5-2 mm and the distance between two notches like 5 mm. Lee told us about the notching plates also. The .
