Cette étude littéraire consacrée à l'oeuvre de
Léo Malet est tirée d'une thèse de doctorat
intitulée Léo Malet, le poète et le gratte-papier,
que Cédric Pérolini a soutenue en juillet 2009,
à l'Université de la Sorbonne nouvelle, sous la
direction de M. Daniel Compère. La première
partie de cet essai met à profit la forte
dimension autobiographique des textes de Léo
Malet pour présenter les multiples expériences
qui ont fait de l'auteur un personnage
picaresque à part entière, parti, dans son
oeuvre, à la recherche de sa propre identité et
d'une certaine reconnaissance publique. Une
large part est réservée à l'analyse de son
évolution politique personnelle.
Son parcours littéraire est ensuite abordé, qui
le conduit du surréalisme à la littérature
policière en passant par le roman populaire. Le
rôle majeur que Léo Malet joue dans les
métamorphoses du roman noir au cours du XX°
siècle y a toute sa place.La dernière partie
évoque ensuite les spécificités de son écriture,
puis les diverses adaptations auxquelles cette
oeuvre a donné lieu : il est ainsi fait un large
panorama des fictions cinématographiques, de
la série télévisée, mais aussi des bandes
dessinées, avant que soit étudiée l'influence

qu'a eue l'oeuvre de Malet sur plusieurs
auteurs des décennies suivantes.

Je ne suis pas un fumeur, mais tous les ayatollahs
(tabac, écologie, féminisme ultra, diètes, religion, etc) me
donnent des allergies. J’ai donc décidé que Lucky Luke
retrouverait sa cigarette dans nos pages !
