Emergency pack

Deflation procedure according to section 10.3.

1.

Pull folding line A across folding line B so that folding line A is placed on the edge of the emergency pack.

Straighten out fold A and fold B so that they are parallel to the emergency pack in the entire width of the life raft.

Fig.1B:

16 - 20 and for 25 persons.

The rest of the packing procedure is the same for life rafts from 12 and up to and including 25 persons.

To prevent the lifting shackle from being placed under the inside boarding ladder during packing, a piece of plastic foil is to be placed over the boarding ladder and the wall to cover it.

Plastic foil: 1 x 2 metres.

Pull the lifting shackle across the "wall" covered in plastic foil and adjust the lifting straps so that they are not twisted.

4.

Make a fold crossing the centre line of raft (fig. 4a) and fold back (fig. 4b).

With Emergency Pack A:

Fold in all the way to the emergency pack. With Emergency Pack B:

Fold in so far that the final width is 5-10 cm narrower than the inside length of the container.

Fold opposite side of liferaft in the same way as first side.

Important!

Be sure the boarding ladder is secure under plastic foil as shown in fig. 2.

Secure the foldings with 1 temporary packing band while rolling the raft.

7.

Roll up liferaft tightly towards emergency pack.

Important! II Cut the temporary packing band in each side - do NOT remove it ! II

8.

Lift up the rolled-up part of the raft onto

the edge of the emergency pack while simultaneously pulling the wall up and across the rolled-up part of the raft.

Pull the lifting shackle across the "wall" covered in plastic foil.

Stretch out the plastic foil in full width.

Mount 2 packing bands as close as possible to the shackle.

The boarding ladder and the lifting shackle are now separated by the plastic foil.

Stretch out the corners of the wall as far as possible.

10.

Turn the raft with the CO2 cylinder upward and press (with your knee) on the cylinder to tighten packing bands.

11.

Turn the raft again - now with the CO2 cylinder downward - then pull the "wall" and plastic up.

12.

Mount 3 extra packing bands of which 1 close to cylinder head to keep release wire free.

Place the painterline bag above the CO2 cylinder and underneath the packing bands as shown.

14.

Mount the painter line to release wire. (See Chapter 8 - Lines).

15.

Place a piece of plastic foil in the bottom of the container. The foil must be so big that it can cover the entire raft.

16.

Place the raft in the lower container with the CO2 cylinder correctly placed in the antiroll foam.

The edge of the "wall" must be placed AT LEAST 20 cm above the edge of the container.

Important!

The wall is to prevent the raft inflating upside down.

18.

STEERING LINES AND PAINTER LINE:

Left-hand container end:

Painter line, between bridle and release wire, to be coiled up and secured with rubber band together with the bridle.

Fasten the steering line bag to packing band No.2.

Pack the coiled lines into the fold between the "wall" and the rolled-up part of the raft.

19.

Right-hand container end:

Mount the end of the steering line in the slit in the sealing list, and tie a double knot.

Fasten the container retaining line to the upper and lower part of container.

End of container retaining line to be tied to eye bolt inside upper part of container

Important!

Pockets for steering line and retaining line are to be placed on the side of the wall

- NOT on top op raft (which could cause the lines to be trapped between raft and container).

20.

Cut a slit in the plastic foil for the painter line and for the lifting shackle.

21.

Pack the plastic foil around the raft with an overlap of at least 20 cm on top of raft.

Important!

The overlap must NOT be so big that the edge of the plastic foil can be tucked down into the lower part of the container.

Cut off any excess foil.

Painter line

22.

Place upper part on lower part of container and lead steering lines through slit in cover flap. Tighten upper and lower container parts together with clamps.

23.

Close the container by means of 4 bursting bands.
