Opening Day an ‘Official’ Holiday Signature Drive
Miler Lite, Gen X Radio and 93.7 The Bull campaigning to make Opening Day more than an unofficial holiday in St. Louis.
(St. Louis, MO – March 28 , 2011) – The Gateway City has long unofficially observed baseball’s opening day in St. Louis as a holiday. Thousands skip work and school to make the pilgrimage to 700 Clark Street downtown. The first pitch at the stadium is a near religious experience for hordes of baseball fans in St. Louis. Miller Lite, 93.7 The Bull and 100.3 Gen X Radio believe it’s time to make this celebration an Official St. Louis Holiday. Baseball fans are invited to participate in the Make Opening Day an Official Holiday signature drive next Thursday prior to the kickoff of the 2011 MLB season. Landmark gathering place and pre-game hotspot Paddy O’s is the location of the signature drive starting at 10:00am. Representatives will be on-site and in-front of the bar just a few steps South of the stadium on 7th street. “The goal is to collect thousands of signatures and testimonial videos that will be presented to St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay in hopes of influencing our local political leaders top recognize opening day for baseball as an official holiday for the city”, said Clear Channel Radio Marketing Director Craig Carmichael. “Imagine the additional revenue for the city and downtown entertainment businesses if the whole city had the day off!” Miller Lite, 93.7 The Bull and 100.3 Gen X Radio ask St. Louis baseball fans to stop by Paddy O’s just South of the stadium on Thursday before the game and sign their name in support of this effort. Signatures will also be collected from Noon-2pm at the Dirt Cheap located at 4359 Telegraph Rd. in Oakville.
