Treatment Consultation
Consultation Procedure page 96
Objectives
To get a full picture of the client’s medical history, lifestyle and any
issues relating to their skin.
Treatment delivery:
Following the consultation, a professional skin analysis is a
very important part of any treatment in order to:
1. Determine which products will be most appropriate and
effective.
2. Establish which treatment will be undertaken.
3. Observe best practice in the delivery of the treatment.
4. Manage client expectations.
5. Deliver complete client satisfaction.
medications
ACCUTANE Given for cystic acne – a toxic does of Vitamin A.
(systemic) This treatment can cause extreme dryness of the skin and heightened
sensitivity/irritation. AHAs and TCA should be avoided.
CLAUSTROPHOBIA For the comfort of the client, mouth, nose and eyes should be left
uncovered (eg during application of masks) and arms should be left
outside during wrapping treatments.
CORTISONE Prescribed for ammation but can interfere with the healing process.
Chemical peels and extractions should be avoided.
MEN VITRU men’s range is recommended. Be aware of ingredients which may cause
irritation or lead to in-growing hairs and folliculitis.
SMOKING In addition to causing cancer, it has a negative impact on skin: affects blood
supply, causing dull and sallow complexion. It causes depletion of Vitamin C
affecting the healing process. Breaks down fibroblasts in which collagen and
elastin are found. Introduction of free radicals can exacerbate
hyperpigmentation problems.
SUPPLEMENTS Taking these supplements may speed up the skin rejuvenation process.
VITAMIN & MINERAL VITRU men’s range is recommended. Be aware of ingredients which may cause
irritation or lead to in-growing hairs and folliculitis.
WATER CONSUMPTION Recommend drinking 6-8 glasses of filtered water each day for good general
health and to avoid skin dehydration.

need to wait before having Monu treatments:
