Monu consultations an introduction
A successful skin health treatment programme
requires a full consultation with the client and
disclosure of relevant information on the client
consultation cards issued by Monu.

Objectives
To get a full picture of the client’s medical history, lifestyle and any
issues relating to their skin.

To establish the cause of any particular condition suffered by the client.

To create an appropriate and effective treatment plan, having correctly

diagnosed the client’s skin condition. Refer to the product decision tree
which breaks the products down into the following groups:
dry/sensitive, normal/combination, oily and all skin types.

Incorporate professional as well as home-based treatments.

Treatment delivery:
Following the consultation, a professional skin analysis is a
very important part of any treatment in order to:
1. Determine which products will be most appropriate and
effective.
2. Establish which treatment will be undertaken.
3. Observe best practice in the delivery of the treatment.
4. Manage client expectations.
5. Deliver complete client satisfaction.

96
Client Evaluation
1. The concerns and needs of the client need to be established
by: following up any questions which have arisen as a result
of information disclosed on the consultation card; listening to
the client, examining and touching the skin.

2. classify any conditions/issues according to the Monu skin

concern categories:

•Mature skin •Fine lines, expression lines

•Dehydrated skin •Dull/uneven texture
•Sensitised/irritated skin •Environmental damage
•Oily/congested skin

If a client presents more than one symptom/concern the

treatment programme can be adjusted at the discretion of the
skin care professional or the primary concern can be treated
first.

3. Keeping good photographic records is helpful in showing

improvements at the end of a programme. This in turn, raises
both the product and the professional treatment in the client’s
estimation.

4. Patch testing can help establish or eliminate any concern if

there has been a history of product/ingredient reactions or
allergies. To patch test, a small amount of the product should
be applied the skin on the inside of the upper arm or on the
neck. Keep covered with medical tape for 1 hour and
thereafter, ask the client to monitor the area, reporting any
signs such as itching, erythema or ammation within 24 hours.

5. Update the client consultation card after each appointment

lifestyle and general advice
DIET Clients on restricted or avoidance diets may experience skin break outs caused
by the elimination of certain foods.

MEN VITRU men’s range is recommended. Be aware of ingredients which may cause
irritation or lead to in-growing hairs and folliculitis.

SMOKING In addition to causing cancer, it has a negative impact on skin: affects blood
supply, causing dull and sallow complexion. It causes depletion of Vitamin C
affecting the healing process. Breaks down fibroblasts in which collagen and
elastin are found. Introduction of free radicals can exacerbate
hyperpigmentation problems.

SUPPLEMENTS Taking these supplements may speed up the skin rejuvenation process.

VITAMIN & MINERAL VITRU men’s range is recommended. Be aware of ingredients which may cause
irritation or lead to in-growing hairs and folliculitis.
