August 28, 2008 – The Dalles, Ore., – Mid-Columbia Medical Center (MCMC), hospital for The Dalles, Ore., has partnered with local mixed-used community Lone Pine Village to open its new Wellness Center within the village in fall 2009. The three-story Wellness Center will expand on the hospital’s existing services with nearly 59,000 square feet of floor space. “The new Wellness Center will allow us to go beyond the walls of the hospital to embrace other aspects of health care and better provide our community with individualized care,” said Duane Francis, CEO of MCMC. “Overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, the riverfront landscape of Lone Pine Village provides a poignant backdrop for the Wellness Center, as it will focus on maintaining the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of our whole community,” said Francis. The planned services of the Wellness Center include acupuncture, yoga, massage therapy and nutrition advice. With the additional space, MCMC’s Wellness Center will include a fully equipped fitness area, spa and a physical rehabilitation center. Once open, the center will be available to all residents of The Dalles and surrounding area. Robert Gilham, Lone Pine Village’s developer, said, “We’re excited that MidColumbia Medical Center chose Lone Pine Village for the location of its new Wellness Center. Not only will the hospital be our anchor tenant going forth, but our partnership with the hospital gives The Dalles’ community an advanced, viable option in pursuing health care.” With MCMC’s inclusion in Lone Pine Village, the development certifies itself as a mixed-use community. Upon completion, Lone Pine Village residents will be

able to walk to everything from cafés and shops to fitness centers and fishing holes. After breaking ground with its first eight homes this summer, Lone Pine Village will begin to build the Wellness Center in late fall 2008, with completion scheduled for late 2009. Simultaneously, Lone Pine Village will begin construction work on more residential properties, mixed-use buildings and infrastructure for future phases, including a roundabout on Highway 197. ###
