ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
J&J has 37 affiliations with other companies and that accounts for the 250 autonomous operating units worldwide. These affiliations are divided into three broad business segments, which are: 1. Consumer Business Segment. 2. Pharmaceutical Business Segment and Medical Devices 3. Diagnostic Business Segment

STRATEGY FORMULATION
Management Team implement strategies with advice and support from the Board of Directors ( implemented locally at over 250 operating companies located in 60 countries throughout the world.)

STYLE
A Decentralized Management Approach Each of the operating companies functions as its own small business. They are strongly entrepreneurial in character.

Performance Development Planning Process (PDP)
Throughout the year, employees and managers work together to define and update employee and departmental goals. At mid-year, employees and managers engage in discussions to assess performance-relative career goals and objectives and to determine if changes are required or if additional support is needed. At the end of the year, a formal written performance evaluation takes place where new or adjusted career goals and career development opportunities are identified for the following year, and a personal career development plan is discussed and documented.
