Defensive Line Drills

RUN

1. 1 on 1 Fit Drill – Reach, Drive, Inside release (variation = add escape)

• Defender will get into fit position, which is defined as having the inside
hand on the sternum, the outside hand on the outside shoulder pad
with cloth.

• Your face will be at hip level.

• Coach will give a blocking command and the defender will react
accordingly.

2. 1 on 1 Read Drill w/ escape – Reach, Drive, Inside release

• Defender will be in three point stance.

• Coach will give a blocking command and the defender will react
accordingly.

PASS

*All Pass Rush moves must be done full speed while working VERTICAL to
QB!!

BULL PROGRESSION

1. Stab Drill

• Stab the OL with the inside hand.

• If there is pressure in the hand, use pull through release.

• If there is no pressure in the hand, keep arm extended and run the
circle to QB.

2. Sling Shot

• Attack OL with inside hand to the sternum and outside hand to the
outside shoulder.

• While accelerating feet and working vertical, execute pull through


technique to “sling shot” yourself to QB.

• As you pull through, rip off the butt with the inside arm and bend to
the QB.
3. Arm Over

• Attack OL with inside hand to the sternum and outside hand to the
outside shoulder.

• While accelerating feet and working vertical, pull the outside shoulder
down with your outside arm and punch through the ear hole with your
inside arm.

• As you punch through, bend to the QB.

4. Arm Under (Rip)

• Attack OL with inside hand to the sternum and outside hand to the
outside shoulder.

• While accelerating feet and working vertical, pull the outside shoulder
towards you and rip through the butt with your inside arm

• As you pull through, step through with your inside foot and bend to the
QB.

SPEED PROGRESSION

1. Slap Club

• Get vertical off of movement

• Slap down the OL outside arm with your inside arm.

• As you knock down his outside arm, Step with the outside foot and club
violently with the outside arm.

• After clubbing, rip off of the butt and bend to the QB.

2. Club Rip

• Get vertical off of movement

• Step with the outside foot and club violently with the outside arm.

• After clubbing, rip off of the butt and bend to the QB.
3. Speed Drill (Clear Hips)

• Get vertical off of movement

• Pick a spot 3 yards behind the OL and beat him to that spot.

• As you get to the spot, dip the shoulder, point your toes to QB and
bend.
