Make these sweet and spicy turnovers in just 35 minutes, which includes the baking time!
What you need: 1/4 cup of slivered almonds 1/4 cup of dark seedless raisins 1/2 lb. of ground chuck 1 tablespoon of cider vinegar 1 small onion, minced 3/4 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 clove of garlic, mashed 1/2 teaspoon of salt Sour cream or hot pepper sauce (optional) 1/3 cup catsup 2 (8 oz.) cans of buttermilk biscuits (refrigerated) 1. Take the oven pan and spread the slivered almonds on it. Bake for about five to seven minutes in a 350 degrees pre heated toaster oven. The almonds should turn lightly brown. Take out and let them cool. 2. Take one large skillet and put it on medium heat. Add in the meat, garlic, and onion, and sauté for five to seven minutes. The meat should lose its red color. Add in the raisins, catsup, cinnamon, almonds, vinegar, and salt. Decrease the heat to low and let the contents simmer in the uncovered skillet. Stir continuously for about five minutes until most of the liquid present has evaporated. Take each biscuit and flatten it with hands to form a four inch circle. 3. Put a rounded table spoon of the above prepared meat mixture on a side of each of the biscuits. Fold over and seal the edges by firmly pressing with a fork. 4. Bake five turnovers in a pre heated 400 degrees toaster oven on a lightly greased pan for about fifteen to twenty minutes. The turnovers should turn golden brown. Bake the other five turnovers similarly. Serve with pepper sauce or sour cream. Toaster ovens are great for making such quick snacks and dishes. Get a good toaster oven today.
