B.A. LL.B. (HONS.) FIVE YEAR INTEGRATED COURSE

The University of Allahabad shall hold an Entrance Test on May 31 , 2011 for selecting students
for admission to its self-financing B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) : Five Year Integrated Course. The students who have
obtained a minimum of 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ST) at 10+2 or 11+1 or an examination recognized
as equivalent thereto by the Academic Council of University of Allahabad and the Bar Council of India, and
General Category who are not more than 20 years of age and SC/ST and other backward classes who are

not more than 22 years of age as on 1 July 2011, may be admitted to the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) 5 years
integrated Course. Students whose results are awaited may also apply, but their candidature shall stand
cancelled if they do not qualify, or if their results are not declared, or if they fail to produce their marks sheet
at the time of admission.
The Application Form and Prospectus will be available online and can also be obtained
personally from the Pravesh Bhawan, University of Allahabad, Allahabad from April 21, 2011 to
May 10, 2011 between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m. on payment of Rs. 1200/- General/OBC (Rs. 600/- in
case of SC/ST/PH in cash).
Duly filled in Application Forms can be deposited Online or personally from April 21, 2011
to May 10, 2011 on the counters of the Law Faculty on all working days between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Admit Card will be made available only Online from 20 May, 2011.
Note : The candidates are required to get only coloured printout of their Admit Cards, else they
will not be permitted to enter the examination center.

5. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
5.1 Application Forms shall be available online & also on the counters of Pravesh Bhawan, University of
Allahabad. Online Commission is Rs. 30/= which is to be paid by the applicant along with the
requisite application fees through Challan in account no. 31682682178 of SBI, Allahabad University
Branch, Allahabad.
Fee (A) Rs. 1200/- for General/OBC candidates.
(B) Rs. 600/- for SC/ST/PH candidates.
5.2 Filling the Application Form.

5.3 GENERAL RULES:
Admission to this course will be done through an Entrance Test held at All India Level by the University as
per the norms and guidelines set by the Bar Council of India by its rules and regulations.
Admission test shall be duration of Two and a half hours and shall comprise three papers each with a maximum
of 100 marks. The papers shall be :
(i) Language Comprehension:
The questions set shall aim at testing the knowledge of the candidate in English and Hindi language
particularly in English Grammar and Composition. The question paper shall contain 80 questions relating
to English language and 20 questions relating to Hindi language, and composition.
(ii) General Awareness and Current Affairs:
The questions set shall aim at testing the general knowledge and awareness of the students about the
current national and international affairs.
(iii) Reasoning Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude:
The questions set shall aim at testing the reasoning power, the mental ability and the legal aptitude of the
candidate.
• Every candidates seeking admission to the course is required to apply in the prescribed format within the
time limit stipulated by the University.
• Reservation in Admissions shall be done according to the rules of reservation applicable in the University
for Professional Courses at the time of admission.
• The number of seats in the course is 80 (Eighty)+. Admissions shall be done strictly in order of merit
determined on the basis of the Test Score of the Candidates.
• Subject to the rules, special consideration is given to the candidates who are outstanding Sports persons
and Physically-handicapped.
• The Foreign Nationals and NRIs are exempt from the Entrance Tests and may be offered admission
against supernumerary seats to a limited number.
All applications for the Test shall be provisional. If the candidate has filled in any wrong information, his
admission may be cancelled at any stage.
5.4 PROCESS OF EVALUATION IN THE TEST
Paper I (Language Comprehension) and Paper II (General Awareness and Current Affairs) each
will have100 objective type question of one mark each. For every correct answer one mark shall be
awarded and for every wrong answer 1/3 mark will be deducted.
Paper III (Reasoning, Mental Ability and Legal Aptitude) will have 50 objective type questions of two
marks each. For every correct answer two marks will be awarded and for every wrong answer 2/3 marks
will be deducted.
The merit of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of computed marks obtained by the candidates in
all the three papers of the Test
5.5 Online Form Submission for Law Five Year Admission Test (LFAT- 2011)
Candidates can also submit online form for the LFAT-2011 at the concerned link of the website
www.alldunivpio.org The website has all the information required for online form submission.
Online Prospectus: The prospectus for LFAT-2011 is available on the concerned link of the website
www.alldunivpio.org and the admission aspirants can visit the website and download it. Aspirants are
advised to read the prospectus carefully before applying.
Requirement for Online Form Submission: Admission aspirants are required to have scanned copy of
their photograph and their signature. These scanned copies of photo and signature and required to be
uploaded during the online form submission. The specifications of the scanned copy of the photographs
and the signature are provided in the online prospectus. All aspirants filling the online form are advised to
read the instructions to fill up the online form, which has all the pre-requisite and the guidelines to this
regard. Upon successful submission of the form the candidates will be shown their Application ID and a
password on the screen. If the candidates has provided their email ID in the online form then a registration
email will also be sent to the candidate has provided their email ID in the online form then a registration
email will also be sent to the candidate which will have the Application ID and the password. The candidates
can use this Application ID and the Password to login to the website and view or print their forms and
download their Admit Cards, when enabled. The form submitted online can be printed and reviewed by the
applicant. If they find any mistake in the data entered by them then they can login to the website using their
Application ID and the password and edit their forms and save them again. The Online Forms can be
edited and saved for any corrections required within 3 days of the date of submission or the last
date of online submission, whichever is earlier. After the editing period of the form is over then no
corrections will be allowed and the candidates will be responsible for the data submitted by them.
Candidates are also advised to view their photographs and the signature uploaded in the
online form and it should match with the sample provided in the “How to fill the Online Form”
section of the website. If the photograph or the signature uploaded by the applicant is not as per the
guidelines then their application is liable to be rejected.
Fees payment for Online Form submission: In case of online form submission mode of payment of fees
is through Pay in Slip of State Bank of India. Upon successful submission of the Form the applicant can
print the form by clicking on the Print Application Form button. The applicants details are printed on the 1st

page and State Bank of India Pay-in-Slip is printed on the 2 page.
The Pay-in-Slip is printed in triplicate with Student copy. University copy and Bank copy, the
account number of the University along with Applicant ID and Name is preprinted on the Pay-in Slip. The
applicant is required to visit his nearest State Bank of India branch and deposit the fees in cash by
presenting the pay-in-slip at the State Bank of India counters.
IMPORTANT : For Online Forms fees is to be paid at SBI counters along with the Pay-in-Slip Generated
on the website after filling up the Form, which has the Application ID (which can also be referred as
Application Numbers), generated by the system. State Bank of India will sent the list of the candidates
(along with the application ID) for whom the fees have been deposited. Those application for which the
Online Form is submitted BUT the fees is NOT deposited will be treated as cancelled and Admit Cards will
NOT be issued.
All candidates must deposit their fees within the next working day of submission of the online form

Note: - The signature and photograph of the candidate shall be used by the

8. EXAMINATION PATTERN
Examination in each subject of study in each semester shall consist of two parts:
(i) An Ongoing Assessment of student which shall comprise assessments (a) in at least Three
Assignments / a project given to him in each subject in the semester, (b) his performance in the two
mid-term Tests of which one shall be announced and other one unannounced Test, and (c) the marks
obtained by him for attendance over and above 75% in each of the subjects. The teacher concerned
may provide one more chance to a student who, for genuine reasons, could not appear in the mid-
term tests.
(ii) An End-Semester examination in each subject of study for the semester, which shall be held
generally in the month of November / April.
A student shall not be eligible to appear in the End Semester examination unless be has completed
the required attendance.
The result of a candidate shall be declared on the basis of the arithmetical average of the marks
obtained by him in the Ongoing Assessment and the End-Semester examination in each subject of
study in a semester.
Students shall be promoted to the next semester subject to the rules made in the relevant ordinances.
The First Batch of the course started in the session 2006-07. Twenty seven bright students were admitted
through an entrance test in which approximately 700 plus students had participated. The inauguration of
the first batch was done by Hon'ble Mr. Justice A.K. Yog of the High Court of Allahabad in a function
presided by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. R.G. Harshe. The first year has been satisfying due to the
dedicated efforts made by the teachers and the Administrative Staff matching with the hardworking and
highly motivated young students of the course. During the past two year students had the exposure to
various eminent scholars in the field of Law and Hon'ble Judges from the High Court of Allahabad.
9. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE COURSE
Seminars and Tutorials
Provision for organising seminars and tutorial classes aims at ensuring an intensive and effective
interaction between the teachers and taught maintaining an idea ratio between them. It would offer
adequate opportunity to get their doubts dispelled and queries answered. It would be a step towards
improvements in teaching technique.
Computer Training
Legal education cannot be allowed, any more to lag behind in adoption of the latest facilities in
locating law and other materials relevant there to and their due analysis and optimum use. Computer
training is to stay as a compulsory component of the entire scheme of studies in Law. Also, computers form
an essential ingredient in the blended system of learning which is one of the latest developments in the field
of teaching and learning which comprises both the conventional and nonconventional techniques
harmonized into one to make it more effective.
Computer Lab
A computer lab with twenty five terminals has been established in the Department of Law for the students of
this course. The computer lab is fully air-Conditioned and has a broadband Internet Connectivity. The lab has a
technical computer expert for the guidance and instructions to the students besides their regular faculty member.
Provision of merit scholarship to three best students in the order of merits in each semester
It aims at encouraging excellence in performance. Three students scoring highest marks in order or
merit will be awarded scholarship of the value of Rs. 1000/-, Rs. 800/-, Rs. 500/- per month respectively in
each semester. This facility may create a healthy environment of competition amongst the students and
result in betterment of both students and the Department. In the first semester the criterion for awarding
these scholarships shall be the Test-Score of the candidates and in the second and the subsequent
semesters the criterion shall be the overall score of the candidates in the semester preceding the one in
which the scholarships are to be awarded.
One Scholarship instituted by the University w.e.f. the session 2007-08 on the request of Mr.
Mahesh Srivastava, NRI. One Gold Medal instituted in the memory of Late Smt. Naraini Sahai to be given to
the B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) last semester student who obtains first position in the said course. The Gold Medal
shall be called “Smt. Naraini Sahai Gold Medal”
A minimum of Rs. 5000 has been provided for organising Moot Court and other like academic activities as
Prize Money for the winner and runner by the “KRISHNA VIRENDRA TRUST, ALLAHABAD”.
11. FUTURE PLANS
Paucity of time has constrained the department from enforcing some major plans from the
current academic session. However, the department is convinced of the importance of some
infrastructural, academic and job related plans and hopes to start them in the near future.
Construction work for the First-Phase of the New Building has already commenced and is
likely to be completed within a couple of months.
Establishment of trusts for award of prizes, medals and scholarships:- The
Department has resolved to explore possibilities for involving individuals and organisations
committed to the cause of higher education to contribute in setting up trusts for arranging prizes,
medals and scholarships to the students in recognition of their academic achievements and co-
curricular contributions. It would go a long way in encouraging the students to strive for excellence
in diverse fields.
Provisions for language improvement programme: - Communication is the basic tool in
the discipline of law. Its quality and effectiveness largely depends upon one's knowledge of the
relevant language. Keeping this in mind, there is a proposal to establish a Language Lab and to
offer paid opportunity to those students who are in need of developing their proficiency in English.
Study materials if provided to the students may be of great help to them in preparation of the
examinations. It is therefore, proposed to establish a separate cell for the preparation of study
materials in the Department itself.

The Faculty of Law in association with the All India Federation of Tax Practitioner (NZ) organised the
National Tax Moot Court Competition.
Hon'ble Mr. Justice Markandey Katju, Judge Supreme Court of India inaugurated the above competition.

B.A.LL.B (Hons.) STUDENTS MAKE ALLAHABAD UNIVERSITY PROUD
The Students of B.A. LL.B (Hons.) Five year Integrated Course participated in the 1st International Bar
Council of India Moot Court Competition, 2011 held at Bhubaneshwar, Orrisa and in the 10th Surana and
Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition held at Pune. The University was represented by
Rohit Nandan Shukla, Spriha Pandey, Shreya Gupta in the BCI Moot wherein the University entered the
Mooting Premier League (MPL) by gaining 5 points in the BCI Moot. The team won both the preliminary round
and made their way to the semi finals. The team has won laurels for the University. Spriha Pandey won the best
Speaker award in Quarter Finals and also a scholarship of Rs. 12,000.00. The students have been promised to
receive 40%-60% discount to represent the University in Vienna International Moot Court Competition at
Vienna. The team was praised by various members of Bar Council including the Chairman Shri Gopal
Subramanyam and Hon'ble Judges of Supreme Court including Justice Patnaik and Justice Altamas Kabir. The
team was well received by the Faculty and it promises to do much more for the University in future and bring
more glory and fame. In the 10th Surana & Surana International Technology Law Moot Court Competition, our
students Guru Prasad Singh, Trikalagya Tiwari and Yamini Sharma have been awarded for submitting the
Fourth Best Memorial in the said Moot Court Competition.
