How it relates to racism and stereotyping.

Culture: How it relates to racism and stereotyping.
Culture is the behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, and manners of a person or society. Culture in this paper will focus on the relationship of stereotyping and racism. The belief that minority groups behave a certain way and are of the same ethnicity or race, the stereotype say that they all do the same thing. For example, All African Americans or Blacks eat fried chicken and watermelon. Whether this is true or false fried chicken and watermelon eating can very well relate to those outside the race it¶s placed on .However, they still generalize and stereotype against that particular group. Through the unfair practice of generalizing and stereotyping it gives birth to becoming racist. Racism is discriminating, prejudice, bigotry and intolerance against a certain group of people. This practice is quite tragic to those on the receiving end. For an example of racism, picture a child from the majority or dominant group attending a school district with those of the minority, the majority of the school is made up of this ethnicity. Some students may focus on this child solely for the purpose of harassment or make fun of this child simply because he or she is not of the same ethnic group that would be an act of racism. Racism keeps a group down, doing jobs that are considered tailored to them. Mexicans¶ cutting grass being limited to being a migrant worker. This practice also prevents Hispanics and Blacks from ever having the opportunity to receive corporate jobs and this definitely wouldn¶t allow them to excel in Corporate America. Stereotypes can also keep groups of people down; because of the way the minority is viewed they sometimes find themselves unenthusiastic or discouraged to even try to pursue positions like Corporate America.

This atmosphere of a culture built upon racism and a stereotype prevent growth, stifles ideas and causes regression. Believing that anyone can become whatever he or she envisions for their life is giving hope to the minority or those being discriminated or prejudice against. Though there will be obstacles and road blocks purposely set up to prevent them from excelling, with a little faith and self confidence they can leap over these blocks and walk in purpose.

In conclusion, this paper is to inform you of what racism and stereotyping is as well as how it relates to our culture. Culture is the behavior patterns, arts, beliefs, and manners of a person or society. Culture in this paper focused on the relationship of stereotyping and racism. It is the belief that minority groups behave a certain way and are of the same ethnicity or race, the stereotype says that they all do the same thing. Stereotyping is to classify persons or groups based on the behaviors of few of them. Through the unfair practice of generalizing and stereotyping it gives birth to becoming racist. Racism is discriminating, prejudice, bigotry and intolerance against a certain group of people.
