Faulconer announces groundbreaking for State-of-the-Art Bikeway and Pedestrian Bridge Project
SAN DIEGO --- Council President Pro Tem Kevin Faulconer will be joined by representatives from Campland on the Bay, Mission Bay community members, staff from Engineering & Capital Projects, and the Park and Recreation Department for the groundbreaking ceremony to showcase this important infrastructure project. “Mission Bay Park is one of San Diego’s crown jewels,” Faulconer said. “For walkers, joggers and bikers, the Rose Creek Bike Path around Mission Bay is truly a special place. The bridge the City is building across Rose Creek is the missing link that makes the bike path complete. It will provide a safer route over the creek by keeping pedestrians off Grand Avenue. I’m certain it will become a wonderful addition to San Diego’s beach communities.” What: Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Rose Creek Bikeway and Pedestrian Bridge Project Friday, April 29, 2011 10:30 am Campland on the Bay 2211 Pacific Beach Drive, San Diego, CA 92109 Kevin Faulconer, District 2 Council President Pro Tem Kathleen Hasenauer, Deputy Director, Park and Recreation Department Steve Alexander, former Chairman, Mission Bay Park Committee Tony Heinrichs, Director, Engineering & Capital Projects Department This project is the vital missing link between the existing regional bicycle network that connects the existing bicycle facility along Pacific Beach Drive to the Class I bikeway at North Mission Bay Drive. The project will: provide an alternate means of transportation; provide a safer route for bicyclists and pedestrians over Rose Creek; reduce traffic congestion on Grand Avenue currently serving as the only route over Rose Creek.
