FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Thursday, April 28, 2011 PARLIAMENT SEAT WITHIN REACH FOR LIBERAL CANDIDATE Kelowna, BC – Liberal

candidate for the riding of Kelowna–Lake Country Kris Stewart is excited a recent poll shows her campaign gaining ground as election day nears. “We are finding that in our extensive door and phone canvassing that Liberal support exceeds Conservative support, but thought we may be biased,” said Voter Identification Chair Scott Ross, “so we conducted an automated survey to minimize that bias.” The automated survey found that support for Stewart was stronger than other opposition candidates. Among decided voters, the poll showed Stewart’s support at 25.0%, an increase of nearly 70% over the 2008 election results. The poll also found that 19.2% of respondents are still undecided. “These results are very encouraging,” says Campaign Manager Islam Mohamed. “I think we’re going to see a great turnout this election if the advance polls are any indication.” Elections Canada reported voting at advance polls was up 44% over 2008, from 5,560 to 8,026. “People stay away from the polls when they think their votes won’t make a difference. These numbers are telling me that every vote will count.” Stewart notes that the findings are consistent with what she’s hearing in the community. “I have heard from a lot of Liberal supporters, people who are questioning supporting this government, and people who want to vote strategically.” Stewart added that she and her campaign team are working to mobilize support for election day, “We’re ready!” ### Please direct your inquiries to:
