PSYCH-K

Change your beliefs….change your life.

Our beliefs create our perceptions of how we see the world, whether the beliefs are accurate or inaccurate, they equally impact our behaviour and our bodies. Our beliefs establish the limits of what we can achieve.

“If you change your beliefs you can change your lives” Bruce Lipton, cellular biologist and best selling author validates the power we have in our lives to change any situation in everyday life, should we choose to do so and create a better life. Robert M. Williams, M.A., is the originator of PSYCH-K, a process that transcends the standard methods of visualisation, affirmations, will power and positive thinking. Derived from scientific research in brain dominance theory as well as ancient mind/body wisdom, this techniques has proved to be especially effective in the areas of behavioral/habit change, wellness and stress reduction. Rob’s life-long exploration of human potential, combined with his 14-year background in business management, provides the foundation for his imaginative yet results oriented approach to personal growth. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and a Masters Degree in Counselling and Personnel Services, Rob has spent many years studying natural healing practices from around the world. PSYCH-K was inspired by these diverse approaches to change and began in the form of a series of intuitive leaps of “consciousness," which occurred over a period of several months during 1988–89. In 1990 Rob introduced his talk at a conference after leading cell biologist Dr Bruce Lipton, had just concluded his presentation with an instruction to the audience to change their beliefs. By his own admission, Bruce knew that simply relying on positive thinking and willpower achieves only limited success. Rob William’s opening statement claimed that PSYCH-K can change long-standing, limiting beliefs in a matter of minutes and he promptly went on to demonstrate this with a member of the audience. Bruce, together with the rest of the attendees, was astounded at the change they witnessed. As a result of this encounter Bruce uses this technique in his own life and fully endorses Rob’s programme. As pioneers in their respective yet complementary fields, they now lecture together regularly. The Conscious and Unconscious Minds Through evolution the human mind has developed two types of processing powers, the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The newer conscious mind is like a manual drive, setting goals and judging the results. It is able to think abstractly, For example, “wealth or happiness” are abstract thoughts/words that could mean very different things to different people. The conscious mind thinks in terms of past and future, rather than the present. The processing capacity of the conscious mind is limited to short term memories (about 20

If we have an experience as a child of falling out of a tree. specifically observing both the surrounding world and the body’s internal awareness. you can increase the cross talk between the two brain hemispheres. When right and left hemispheres of the brain are in simultaneous communication. It is common to hear self-help practitioners of various backgrounds talk about doing a technique on or to a client. Because of these limiting belief programs running in our subconscious mind. Using these techniques. Compared to the conscious mind. is sabotaged by the subconscious mind which actually runs the show. we usually go nowhere! So. and ill health. without the help. attitudes. our health. rejection. The Plague of Powerlessness A growing sense of powerlessness is evident in people everywhere. It reads the environmental cues and immediately engages previously acquired behaviours. As a result we often depend on “experts” to take care of our mental. the conscious mind would clearly be overwhelmed by the vast amounts of information processing required to function in our complex reality. we may sabotage our relationships. multitasking thousands of events at a time and processing at 4 billion bits per second on average! A deep feeling of helplessness to influence or control important aspects of our lives. Without the subconscious mind. If the subconscious is not aligned with our conscious goals. and achieve a more "whole-brained" state. How can we access the subconscious mind to change our beliefs and behaviour? The PSYCH-K process is an “energy” psychology technique. values and beliefs. implying that the facilitator is responsible for what happens during the session and that the client plays a passive role in the healing/change process. housing our long term memory. This dependency can foster an attitude of victimhood and impotence. Based on these experiences and input by our mentors and parents. The earlier or older subconscious mind has different characteristics. why would the subconscious mind not be aligned with our conscious goals? The subconscious primarily develops its programming receiving from its environment in the form of experiences. the trigger input is just like clicking an icon on our computer to start a reactive program learned earlier in our life. When we are ‘triggered’ by our parents or partners and immediately react in anger. We stop taking responsibility for our lives and turn that responsibility over to others. The subconscious mind is in the eternal present . Your life is a reflection of your beliefs.seconds). we may take on such beliefs as “I will never be good enough”. which is ideal for changing subconscious beliefs. which creates our visions and plans for the future. the subconscious mind has vastly expanded processing capacity. the “self”. It utilises the mind/body interface of muscle testing (kinesiology) to access the self-limiting “files” of the subconscious mind.

By hastily killing the messenger. several thousand years of spiritual history and acceptance by some of the brightest minds humanity has produced qualify it for inclusion in the PSYCH-K model for change. This unique process is a blend of various tools for change. it is our conscious mind that is designed to set goals and judge results. Problems are a part of our meaningful experiences. If you didn’t “get it” when the message was just a whisper from the small voice within. Although many mainstream scientists and psychologists continue to debate the existence of the superconscious mind. Many self-help techniques simply assume it is a good idea to “fix” a problem without first considering the possibility that the problem may be cleverly disguised as an opportunity to learn an important life lesson. The superconscious mind is different from either of the other “minds. What may appear to be a disability to do one thing may actually be an ability to do (or avoid) something else.” It’s more like a watchful and caring parent. the concept of a part of consciousness beyond our conscious and subconscious minds has been a part of human culture for millennia. In other words. Its job is to oversee the developmental process of your growth and evolution as a spiritual being having a human experience – to enable you to learn your lessons and grow up to be a fully functioning adult. It doesn’t choose actions as much as it simply responds to its environment in an automatic fashion. or something else.” you will get the point here. It is designed to engage and activate the inner resources of the subconscious and superconscious minds while honouring the power and responsibility of the individual in making the changes they seek. Remember. Soul. it often comes back with a vengeance. the subconscious is the habitual mind. This reality of a spiritually expanded consciousness is an important bridge between contemporary spirituality and contemporary psychology. it will often recur in the same or a different form to give you yet another chance to learn the lesson it may represent? In fact. Permission is requested from both the subconscious and superconscious minds to assure the safety and appropriateness of proceeding with the belief change process. If you think of the conscious mind as a superconscious mind “in training. Spirit. The Superconscious Connection Whether you call it Superconscious Mind. some contemporary and some ancient. the problem you want to get rid of may actually be a solution to a much greater problem. The change process uses muscle testing to get permission before making the change. Have you noticed that even if you can get rid of the problem. The famous Greek philosopher Socrates understood this principle well. However. This response may have frustrated his students. With acceptance of this concept of the superconscious mind as a valuable source of an expanded awareness comes a warning about the temptation to defer even the most mundane daily choices to this level of mind. By contrast. If you deferred all your decisions to your parents you would never achieve the necessary confidence and self-sufficiency to make it in the world on your own. Higher Self.qualities and characteristics of both hemispheres are available to maximise your full response potential to life's challenges. you may experience it as a smack in the face next time around! PSYCH-K helps you get the lesson before releasing the symptom. Socrates realised the importance of each student coming to his or her own conclusion in order to develop confidence and self-sufficiency. The goal of a great teacher or parent is to have the student or child no longer depend on the teacher for . PSYCH-K is a do-with process that depends predominantly on the inner wisdom of the individual seeking change. They can be the bearers of important messages. you may lose the message and miss the lesson! Problems can simply be conscious or subconscious strategies for meeting important needs in your life. He was known for answering his students’ questions with questions.

The goal here is for your conscious mind to integrate with the superconscious and subconscious minds. becoming a unified consciousness. abstraction can still be a problem. uncertain. creating a more concrete.answers. By using the knowledge of the subconscious mind to determine how simple or complex a process needs to be in order to accomplish your goal. it wouldn’t be a problem.” one of the places you don’t want to go! To tell your subconscious that you no longer want to be depressed. Remember. calm. literal description of your goal.” One assumption among many practitioners and self-help explorers is that the more complex a process or body of knowledge is. Because the subconscious mind makes the necessary belief and perceptual changes. or healthy. A significant feature of PSYCH-K is that. “Everything should be made as simple as possible.” What Counts Is the Wisdom and Ability Within You The quality of the PSYCH-K experience is mostly a result of the wisdom that resides in the superconscious. you can be sure that the process of choice will be … “as simple as possible. PSYCHK teaches that the subconscious mind is the best judge of how complex a process needs to be because it is that part of the mind that will be making the changes. Even though it is true that you don’t want to go to Times Square. it enables the subconscious mind to choose the change process it prefers. but houses are more complex than that. it makes sense to let it choose the right “tool” for the job. The fact is. In this state. which is to be happy. and the ability of the subconscious mind of the person experiencing the process. and action become ONE.” and usually are. volition. The previous sentence would most likely be heard by your subconscious as “I (negation deleted) want to go to Times Square. results. or sick isn’t the same as telling it what you DO want. confident. Abstract goals often create abstract. The subconscious mind tends to omit negations. the power of belief rather than the power of complexity may account for the effectiveness of most complex techniques. The notion of complexity carries with it an air of mystery and power. Even with a more positive choice of words. but not simpler. intuition. You Can’t Build a House with Only One Tool Many self-help systems use only one specific technique to address all problems. The positive statements just mentioned are often too abstract for the subconscious to understand and act on with clarity and precision. but telling the cab driver you don’t want to go to Times Square. but not simpler. It was Albert Einstein who said. They need to be translated into a more sensory-based language. the more powerful it is. not the skill of the facilitator. Expressing your desires as negations is not only confusing but can even be counterproductive. It takes the pressure off the person facilitating the process and relies on the inner wisdom and ability most people don’t even know they have. via muscle testing. which is like asking a carpenter to build a house using only a hammer! If the whole house could be built using only nails. If You Don’t Know Where You Are Going. How Will You Know When You Arrive? Many personal growth approaches simply focus on releasing or getting rid of a problem. To the subconscious mind. the subconscious knows the world only through your five senses. and disappointing. anxious. that information is not especially useful to the cab driver. On the other end of the spectrum some processes are so simple they seemed “too good to be true. . And people are more complex than houses.

Manifestation of your goals can be disappointing and frustrating when a discrepancy arises between your conscious goals and your subconscious programming. The PSYCH-K permission protocols clarify your intention and make the necessary distinctions to ensure you are addressing that intention to the appropriate level of mind to accomplish the task at hand. values. Essentially. and beliefs. Step-by-step written instructions and personal training offered in the PSYCH-K workshops enable you to utilise the techniques safely and successfully. These are just some of the most important characteristics that maintain the integrity and safety of the process and represent important differences from many other personal change processes. Muscle testing is an inappropriate method of communication with this level of mind as it is capable of communicating verbally.wisdomways. yet interactive levels of consciousness: the conscious. asking the superconscious mind to carry out the mechanical functions of rewriting outdated or undesirable “software” is also inappropriate because that activity is the domain of the subconscious. it just gets you there. Remember. and it controls your habitual responses in life. The superconscious mind has wisdom and perspective the subconscious and conscious minds don’t have. subconscious. Its job is to provide counsel and support to the other levels of mind and to help manifest the intentions of the conscious and subconscious mind by creating those “meaningful coincidences” in life that some people call “luck. which often manifest as mixed results. asking the subconscious mind to give you information beyond its “habituated” perspective is inappropriate and can be misleading. PSYCH-K identifies and communicates with three distinct.net . In this case the superconscious receives mixed messages. It is a vehicle for change . Muscle testing is the easiest communication link to the subconscious and superconscious levels for most people. PSYCH-K doesn’t choose what you should believe. For example. it doesn’t decide where you should go. On the other hand.like a car. It is particularly important to have a clear intention when accessing the subconscious and superconscious minds.Clarity of Intention Matters Knowing what part of the mind/body system you are addressing with muscle testing is critical. but not much wisdom.
