Certain Pharos components may require other software to be present—the SignUp Web Components and the EDI Server both require Microsoft Internet Information Services. 3. SignUp Client and Pharos Station components do not appear in the Pharos install wizard—they are installed by different methods: • • • The Popup Client is installed using install packages. Main Installer Wizard Screens The following screens are displayed in an install of the Pharos system: Welcome screen The first screen of the installers displays information about starting an install. Starting the Installers Start the Pharos installers by inserting the Pharos CD into the CD drive of the PC you want to install components on. Click Next to continue.

Highlighting a group displays information about it in the lower half of the screen. Database Server TCP/IP Host Name and Address This screen is not displayed in an install of the Pharos Database or Principal Services. If no components are detected. Pharos Systems International. Note: Selecting “Additional Components” leads to a second screen where you can select the specific components you want. including a list of components included in the group. this screen is not displayed. Select Components Select the component group to install. Click Next to continue. Destination Directory Click Browse to specify the location that Pharos files should be installed to. Click Browse to locate these files. Click Start to begin the installation. any screens specific to the components being installed are displayed. TCP/IP Hosts and Services Directory This screen is displayed if the installers cannot find the hosts and/or services file on the PC. Start Installation This screen is displayed once the installers have gathered all of the information they need. Click Finish to exit the installers. A summary of the components being installed is displayed. See the Pharos Help for more information on the specific properties mentioned. Inc.

Enable Online Services Pharos Online Services is a set of features that involves communication between your site and Pharos Systems. Part of this is a small service that gathers information about your Pharos system and emails it to Pharos at regular intervals. SQL Server Instance This screen only appears if Pharos is being installed on a machine running multiple instances of SQL Server.

Pharos EDI Server Pharos EDI Server Password All external clients that communicate with the EDI Server authenticate themselves by supplying the password you create here. as it may be needed when configuring external devices and clients. Fairport. Note: The EDI Verification Tool will run automatically the next time the PC is restarted following installation of the EDI Server. Enter details for a new user account to be created. Note: Make sure to keep a record of the EDI Server Password. Inc. The EDI Verification Tool can be run at any time from the Start menu under Programs > Pharos. Inc. Click Next to continue. The EDI Server Password may be anything. This is a small utility that runs a short series of tests to check that the EDI is functioning correctly. an Administrator must be created. Authenticating Cashier A user account with Cashier or higher access is required for all transactions generated by the EDI.Pharos Systems International. Pharos Administrator Administrator User If no Administrator-level users are detected in the Pharos Database. or enter the details of an existing Pharos user (this user’s access level will be upgraded to Cashier if it is lower).

Specify a directory and click Install to install the gateway. the gateway is automatically installed in the Pharos\bin directory. There is one installer executable for each gateway. a directory must be specified for the installed files. Note: If any existing Pharos components are detected on the PC. Pharos Gateways Select Gateway Select the gateway that you want to install.

and in the Program Files\Pharos\Client Installers directory of all Pharos Administrator PCs. If Deep Freeze is installed on the PC. so that it will not be erased on reboot. Deep Freeze Deep Freeze security software restores a PC’s hard drive to a previous state on reboot.Pharos Systems International. a “safe” location must be specified where the SignUp Client can store configuration information. Installing SignUp Clients SignUp Clients are installed from a self-contained installation package. Run the package executable on each SignUp Client PC to install or upgrade the SignUp Client. The SignUp Client install package can be run by double-clicking it. This package is available on the main Pharos CD in the clientinstallers directory. sometimes called the “ThawSpace” partition. where extra parameters can be specified. 100 WillowBrook Office Park. Setting Up SSL Certain Pharos components communicate via TCP/IP. The following screens are displayed when running the Pharos uninstaller: Welcome screen The first screen of the uninstallers displays information about starting an uninstall operation. Inc. Pharos supplies two small command line utilities to help in the process of migrating the Pharos database to a new server: • • PharosSystems.Uniprint. The recommended procedure for migrating the Pharos Database is as follows: 1. 5. Click Next to continue. Copy the migration tools to the new server. When testing is complete. When the database migration tool completes. take the old server offline and bring the new server online.this tool copies the Pharos database from its current server to the new one and upgrades it to the current version of Pharos if necessary. The name synchronization tool can also be run by itself if the server's name is changed after the upgrade. and optionally propagates these changes to the other Pharos services.Uniprint. Note: Both the old and the new server must be running SQL Server 2000 or later—the utilities do not support upgrading from MSDE. 4.
