WORLD LEADER IN WOVEN VINYL FLOORING

”WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE WORLD LEADER IN WOVEN VINYL FLOORING. WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE ORIGINAL. WE WILL LEAD THE WAY WITH CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT AND THE MARKET WILL ALWAYS RECOGNISE FLOORING DESIGNED BY BOLON.”

DARE TO CREATE CHANGE
For us, flooring is so much more than just something to walk on. I t ’s a n e x p e r i e n c e. O u r f l o o r i n g i s d e s i g n , f a s h i o n , c o o l , c r a z y a n d r o c k ’n’ r o l l . It possesses endless possibilities. Regardless of whether it is the focus or a discreet base, a change takes place. Quite simply a change from the invisible to a total experience. Bolon has created woven vinyl flooring for more than 50 years. Thanks to that experience, we have developed a system of unique, in-house production where all flooring is manufactured. We undertake all the design work ourselves. Nowadays, our customers are architects, trendsetters and interior designers a c r o s s t h e w o r l d . A s t h e t h i r d g e n e r a t i o n o f t h e c o m p a n y, w e c a n s e e t h e v a l u e o f heritage, knowledge and the soul of what we do. But we also have a strong will to change. Challenge and rebel against accepted norms. For us, there are no distinct boundaries between trends, architecture and interior design. In our eyes, they act in a harmony that opens up brand new opportunities within wildly differing areas. We quickly saw the potential in realising our visions of flooring and following our instincts, something that has proved to be a success. To d a y, w e a r e o n e o f t h e f o r e m o s t d e s i g n c o m p a n i e s , a g l o b a l l e a d e r in woven vinyl flooring with trend-conscious customers across the world.

Welcome to the world of Bolon. Annica & Marie

THE WORLD’S BEST IN WOVEN VINYL FLOORING
Bolon was the first company in the world to produce woven vinyl floor coverings – a unique product with unique properties

It is an exclusive flooring that has the feeling of textile, but with the benefits of vinyl flooring; durability and simplicity of maintenance and installation. And just as important are the financial and environmental perspectives. We have focused on public spaces and possess all the certification required. Our flooring is loved by interior designers, architects and fashion

designers the world over, and can be seen everywhere from luxury hotels in Milan to trendy museums in Beijing. The attraction is in the appearance of the flooring with its exclusive, textile feeling combined with its durability. Thanks to these properties, the flooring is used in projects of all sizes for hotels, offices and shops. We are world leaders in design,

technique and quality. This gives us plenty of scope to realise our flooring visions. All flooring is also manufactured in Sweden in a unique production process that uses machines we designed ourselves. All this gives us all the benefits of short decision and production routes. Our collections include over 90 different flooring designs with various textures and patterns.

DISCOVER TWILIGHT
With twilight as inspiration for our new collection

Twilight is a collection woven in metallic, shimmering colours that add a deep, exclusive impression to the flooring. The surface lives its own life with lustre and shadows. Inviting, challenging and full of surprises. The inspiration for Twilight comes from twilight’s glowing palette of colours. The almost magical condition that occurs between light and dark. Shadowy and shimmering at the same time.

In the same way, the contrasts in our new collection are eye-catching. Innovative and classic, large and discreet, dark and light. The collection has been divided into three different textures and grades available in three colour scales in various shades such as mystical blue, shadowy brown and dark winered. Despite the huge contrasts, the collection creates a complete whole. We have been inspired by the pos-

sibilities created by the new hotel concepts. From seeing our various floorings in the total interior design, everything from the lounge to the different rooms and corridors, contrasts are created that provide a total experience. The collection maintains high performance and covers all purposes and needs for public spaces.

BOLON CREATES OPPORTUNITIES
Innovative ideas for designed flooring and mats

We are a design company that knows how important it is to get the right conditions to be able to realise your ideas. That’s what we work on every day. We have supplemented our flooring range with a large range of new, flexible solutions. Through changes

in production, we can now offer our customers more creative possibilities for creating their own personal flooring solutions. For the first time, we are launching mats with leather trimming as well as customised designs for mats and tiles. Based on our collections, you

can also create cut patterns for both flooring and mats in the desired shapes and sizes. This is a concept with an even greater focus on design that we really believe in.

DESIGN FRIENDS
Bolon creates new possibilities for contemporary designers and architects

We cooperate with people, interior designers, architects and companies that we rather like and who also rather like us. They understand us and we understand them. A reciprocal arrangement that inspires and challenges in a positive way. From the moment our floor coverings came onto the market, they enjoyed immense popularity among architects and designers whose workplace is the world. The fact that global architects, designers and brands

choose our flooring is something we regard as proof that our flooring meets the needs and requirements demanded of us. Giulio Cappellini, Jean Nouvel and Renzo Piano, Tom Dixon and Jamie Hayón are just a few of the worldfamous designers and architects who choose our flooring. Giorgio Armani is one of our most loyal customers. Mr Armani personally selects the flooring for his stores. He seldom holds back, and has

therefore chosen to install Bolon on the walls, as well as the floors. The world is our source of inspiration and our workplace. But we are a third-generation Swedish manufacturing company. Our flooring has been sold abroad for many years, but Sweden is our base. This is where we work, manufacture and design our flooring, in our own factory in Ulricehamn.

HAYÓN
Liberating madness with Hayón

Hayón is a man people like. He couldn’t care less about the establishment, goes his own irreverent way in terms of design, dislikes mediocrity and regards himself as a creator with artistic freedom. Bolon is proud to present Jamie Hayón as our "Design Friend". Invited as a Guest of Honour to the Interieur08 fair in Kortrijk, Hayon chose to furnish his exhibition with flooring from Bolon. With regard to the fair, he says:

"This is probably the most ambitious exhibition of my work so far. It is a journey through my entire career, showing most of my work" 350 square metres covered with Antracite flooring from the Now collection. A simple, dark anthracitecoloured flooring that gives depth to walls and décor. "I choose Bolon because it is a great material and went beautifully with our exhibition concept". When Hayón goes on to talk about

future trends within flooring, his thoughts are clear: "I think there will be a strong return to quality without missing out on innovation. Using the existing technique to provide great quality and beautiful materials will be strong"." Not far from the truth, we’d guess.

DIXON
Designs with joie de vivre and irony

"The choice of floor is fundamental; the base for everything in a room, so getting it right is the departure point." A great confirmation of the importance of flooring, expressed by Tom Dixon, one of the world’s leading designers. For the last few years, Dixon has been the Creative Director of 100%

Design in London. Prior to the fair in 2008, he constructed the prizewinning Canteen restaurant and the associated VIP lounge, and the choice of flooring was Bolon. "I first came across the product through the 100% Design show when we were looking for products for the VIP room, that were hard wearing but

glamorous - a difficult combination". Dixon chose Bronze from the Now collection. "We use a lot of metallics and were looking for a floor covering that was going to work with this. So we were very happy when we found the Bolon metallic colours.

ENVIRONMENT
A matter of course for us

To get straight to the point: our flooring can be recycled. The waste material is used for new production. We have a ground water cooling system which does not require the use of Freon as a refrigerant. Surplus heat from the furnaces is used to heat our factory in winter. We use 100% green electricity and are, of course, certified in accordance with ISO 14001. To go into a little more detail and puncture a myth about PVC: PVC is manufactured from around 50% ordinary common salt * and 50% oil, and therefore significantly less oil is used for the production of

PVC compared with other plastics. The PVC is then mixed with a plasticiser and chalk*. Approximately 55-60% of the end product consists of substances that are not environmentally harmful and are not likely to run out. The manufacture of vinyl uses less energy than other plastics as it is produced at a lower temperature. Last, but not least, PVC is recyclable. We follow a policy of recycling as much of our waste material as possible and using it to make new products. All the dyes and stabilisers used in our flooring products are approved and free from heavy metals.

The plasticisers used are DIDP and DINP, both of which are the most eco-friendly of all phthalates. Environmental investigations carried out by the European Union have shown that neither of these phthalates presents a risk of negative impact on the environment. Our company is committed to continuous environmental improvement and good environmental practices are more important than ever.
* Salt and chalk are considered infinite resources on our planet.

AN INNOVATION
Creative ideas from Bolon

The step between a thought, a concept and a finished product is sometimes shorter than you might think. Particularly if you control your own production, at close quarters. Here, the step is no further than the staircase down to our own factory. This perfectly matches our constant desire to develop, surprise and experiment. In order to always be the first and lead development, we are now

presenting a brand new concept, a side collection that will be continuously developed, but which is not presented in our standard range: Innovation. Our first Innovation is a unique collection of graphic, stylish designs with black and dark brown as a base. The series contains ten different designs. Stylish and strict, with attitude. The flooring has attracted attention

with its unique 3-dimensional look. The shifting shades of colour and the experience that the texture is continually changing give the surface an exciting depth. Innovation is a living collection. If you would like to ensure that you are kept up-to-date with our latest news, visit our website www.bolon.com In parallel with Innovation, our standard range also has additions every year.

EASY TO LOOK AFTER
Good flooring is easy to maintain

One of the most common things we get asked about is how to look after and clean flooring from Bolon. We often compare ourselves with textile flooring, but with the difference that ours is easier to look after. The flooring is easy to maintain and durable. It should be cleaned with ordinary water and machine-scrubbed. It needs to be cleaned from the first day. If you look after it in the right way, you will have a fantastic flooring for a long time to come.

In order to make caring for Bolon easier, we recommend our BPS Bolon Protect System – surface treatment. A dirt-repellent surface layer specially designed for our flooring. Our biggest customers are hotels, stores and offices. Bolon flooring looks spectacular in these settings. Bolon is a flooring for public spaces. We have all the certification required, which means that our flooring fulfills all the requirements of public spaces.

Despite the textile appearance of the flooring, the joins are invisible in most cases. Where they can be seen, it does not ruin the overall impression created by the flooring. Our range also includes uV-resistant designs for outdoor use, e.g. in hotel areas around pools and on balconies, etc. read more about our Outdoor collection on page 40.
