PREFACE

Today cellular phone service has change the life style and working
Method of people in India as well as in the whole world. Now we able to
contact anybody any where at any time I had honor and privilege to take
training in Idea cellular ltd., Delhi.

In past few years, India experience a metamorphic changes in


telecommunication services with gradual transaction from the traditional
method of wire a communication .Phone is of common sight in developed
areas.So,because of several utilization of cellular phone there are huge
opportunity in this market and therefore grand operator and not new technology
are marketing the cellular phone market sizzle like never before.
So to say in this point of time, it is very important for any company to retain its
dealers and customer to satisfy by the service provided by it ton maintain the
network.

INTRODUCTION
The word Cellular has been originated from the English word Cell.
Cellular Telephony is a network of wireless equipment, which uses radio
waves. The Cellular phone sends and receives radio signals to and from
the nearest cell site, which is connected to the Mobile Switching Center
(MSC).Te MSC is connected to the conventional local phone network.
The use of radio waves as the communication link eliminates the use of
wires that tie down to one point. As long as you are in the cellular service
area, whether you are moving or stationary you remain connected at all
times.
When you subscribe to cellular phone service you are provide with a SIM
card (Subscriber Identity Module). The SIM Card is about the size of a
regular band Credit Card with a microchip, which stores you cellular
telephone, now days mainly four techniques are used which are G.S.M.,
C.D.M.A., W.L.L., M.P.S./Cellular business based on GSM and P.D.C.S.
Technology is spread all over the world. These 450 GSM networks on air
in more than 170 countries, totaling close to 483 millions subscribers.
Different operator allows assessing different type of GSM networks.
There are essentially three types of networks- 900, 1800, 1900 GSM.

GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication. It lays down
the common standard for mobile telephone. Which allows the subscribers
to use their handsets, in any place , which has GSM coverage.
GSM in the PAN European standard for digital cellular telephone service.
It is word’s fastest growing mobile communication standards. GSM was
designed for European markets to provide the advantage of automatic,
International roaming in multiple countries. GSM System has already
been implemented in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Being a digital technology GSM provides crystal clear sound, fewer drop
cells, excellent transmission quality and mobility not only in India but
even when you are traveling abroad.
The SIM card is a vital component in GSM operations. The user can store
all relevant data for the phone on a removable plastic care. The card can
be plugged onto any GSM compatible phone and the phone is instantly
personalized for the user.

How the GSM Cellular phone work ?

1. The caller while stationary or while traveling wants to make a call.

2. His call is transmitted to the nearest radio base station from where, it is
transmitted through a microwave ling or through a fiber Optic cable to
a mobile switch on exchange for mobile phone cells.

3. If the call is to another mobile subscriber, the mobile switch to another


Radio base station, from where it is transmitted to the receiver’s mobile
phone , directs it.

4. In case the call is to subscriber on another network. Fixed or mobile . It


Is directed to the public network via the mobile switch and is then
carried to its destination like a normal call.

History and Present status

IDEA CELLULAR LTD.


Idea Cellular’s antecedents date back to 1995, when the Aditya Birla
Group and AT & T (through Birla AT&T communication –
Maharasthra & Gujrat circle) and the Tata Group (through Tata cellular
– Andhra Pradesh circle) set up cellular network. Both the above
companies were amongst the first company to commercially start
operation in circles other than metros and achieve financial closure in
India Telecom industry.
In the year 2000, the historic path breaking merger of Tata Cellular with
Birla AT&T communications and the subsequent acquisition of RPG
Cellular –(Madhya Pradesh circle) in the year 2001- helped take the
company to aim even further and led to the formation of Birla Tata
AT&T Limited. In year 2001, company won fourth cellular license for
Delhi metros circle in 5 Nov. 2002. In year 2002 company introduced
common brand “IDEA” and changed the name to IDEA cellular Ltd.
Since then , there has been no looking back for IDEA cellular. The
company launches delhi operations in year 2002 and added a record
100,000 subscriber within one month of launch.
In 2003, the company achieved the largest financial closure in Indian
Telecom for its entire circle. In 2004, the company entered into
definitive agreement to acquire Escotel Mobile Communication

Telecommunications ( Cellular licensee holder for UP(E),Himachal
Pradesh and Rajasthan).
The company is poised well to strengthen its leadership position in the Indian
Telecom landscape. Now have a license for 22 circles. Capture 60% of Indian
telecom population & 26 Million customers. Every coming year Idea regularly
increasing the customers & providing good customer satisfaction & always
want to satisfied customers gives 100%. In year 2005 added 700000 lack
customer its represent idea growth rate yearly & yearly & also capture 65%
market in telecom. In year 2006 increasing with high rate with customer
satisfaction & capture market in all the aria of telecom. In year 2007 customer
1400000 its represent the rate of growth. In year 2008 it increasing day by day
an achieved a another mile stone 20,00000 lack customers in only Delhi Ncr
reason.

Idea Mobile Communications Limited

Idea Mobile Communications Limited originally started as a joint venture of

Escorts Limited, one of the leading industrial houses in India, and First Pacific

Company Limited of Hong Kong. The original company had Escorts Limited holding 51

per cent stake while First Pacific held the balance 49 per cent. Recently, however Escotel

has transferred its entire business to Idea Cellular, one of the leading Industrial houses of

India.

This feature allows to have a teleconference with up to five people at the same
time, from wherever you are. You can conference with either cellular or
landline phones, including STD and ISD calls. To make a conference call,
simply make your first call. Then put the first call on hold and dial the next
number. To conference , scroll through the handset menu and select the
conference feature.

ITEMISED BILLING
An optimized bill gives you the details of all calls made the received , and of
all the other facilities you availed of, on your mobile number during the month.
It also carries details of the numbers called / received , time and date of the
call, duration and the amount charged.
