WelcomeZtoZSwinburneZUniversityZofZ TechnologyZSarawakZCampus 2011 is Swinburne’s one hundred and third year of providing real life education and research programs aimed at preparing its graduates to get good jobs and to be able to make an immediate impact on the economy and the culture wherever they live. Swinburne is determined to make the next hundred years even better than the first. The year 2008 saw a major development in the expansion of the Sarawak campus, giving Swinburne world-class, state-of-theart classrooms, laboratories and computer facilities, as well as recreational facilities. Everything is now in place for working, studying and enjoying student life. Stage 2 and 3 developments are already being planned on related sites – Swinburne Sarawak plans continuous growth and development and is committed to this part of the world for the long term. As a Branch Campus University in Malaysia, Swinburne offers identical degrees to those offered in Australia and we award the same Australian testamur - just as if you were studying in Australia. Programs currently offered include Engineering, Commerce, ICT, Science, Design and English. At the same time we are developing undergraduate and postgraduate experiences, including research, development, and project work that links to the rich culture and economic promise of the state of Sarawak, Malaysia, and the region. This program guide has been designed to assist you in finding details about the programs available at the Sarawak branch campus that include Diploma, Foundation, Degree, Masters and Doctoral/PhD programs. We offer you a choice of either completing your program locally with us at the Sarawak campus or at one of the campuses in Melbourne, Australia. Since the programs and units of study are the same, if your results meet the requirements you are able to transfer to or from Australia/Malaysia at the end of any term - subject to obtaining the appropriate visa from the relevant government. The Branch Campus University in Sarawak is a partnership between Swinburne University of Technology in Australia and the State Government of Sarawak, operating through two foundations, Yayasan Sarawak (Sarawak Foundation) and the Sarawak Higher Education Foundation. Already students from more than 40 countries as well as from West and East Malaysia are studying at Swinburne Sarawak. Here you can obtain a quality Australian degree from a 103-year old university at a fraction of the Australian cost. To ensure the comparability of its degrees whether you study in Australia or Malaysia, Swinburne has extensive quality assurance and enhancement mechanisms in place and you will encounter Malaysian, Australian and other international staff. The programs offered are designed to prepare graduates to live and work in a world in which professionals need to be capable of high levels of international interaction. A Swinburne education emphasises the development of the skills graduates need to gain employment or to go out and set up a new venture to provide self-employment and eventually to employ others!
