IT IS NECESSARY TO BE REALITY
Firstly, I want to say something. Why is it named as axial dislocation that Turkey applies policies based on East
instead of West? If the USA applied policies just based on northern and southern America by giving up the
policies based on Europe and Asia (especially Middle East), what will we say? In fact, this is the mistake of
Turkey. After Turkey followed the policies based on West, now anyone, inclusive of Turkey, can’t understand
this.

Janos Martonyi’s statements’ may be good; but perhaps we need to ask that: can Turkey be reality? While we
answer this question, we consider that if Turkey have enough strong to do this and other states allow Turkey to
do this. There are indeed important points. It doesn’t matter what its name is. New Ottomanism, Neo-
Ottomanism or others… As Ahmet Davutoğlu said to Jackson Diehl that Turkey wants to institute a link like
organisation with old countries Ottoman Empire. Russia did something like this and it founded Commonwealth
of Independent States and the UK founded Commonwealth of Nations. Maybe Turkey founded an organisation
like these. Why not?

I read writing on a newspaper. After Soviet Union, Turkish States doesn’t like the role of Turkey. Because Turkey
would try to act as an elder brother toward those. Now why do these states have to accept the leadership of
Turkey? Maybe Turkey can do this, even it should do:

1. To give up leaderships (temporarily, of course),

2. To establish relations with all the states,

3. To improve the relations it has,

4. To take into consideration the equality among states, every interests and domestic policies (especially
in domestic policies the structures)

The USA didn’t want to be leader after the World War I and II. Actually, conditions made it a leader. But, are
conditions ready for Turkey? Before the conditions institute, if Turkey tries to be a leader, all of the states don’t
like this situation and also new Turkey. They resist. Because anyone doesn’t want a leader or an elder brother
what it is necessary to be done and doesn’t like them. Therefore, firstly, Turkey should establish the
relationships with all other states. But while Turkey does this, it should pay attention to equalities among states.
Other states like this and want to establish with the states like these instead of the states which don’t take into
consideration others states’ interests. Secondly, Turkey should sign the treatments about culture, economy,
diplomacy, education, technology, military...etc. For example, Turkey can try to institute free trade area, maybe
between Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Northern Cyprus or some countries in EU by signing trade treatments.
Thirdly, Turkey should restructure in its structures, education, healthy, agriculture, social structures, military,
political structures...etc. Therefore Turkey harmonize new world. And besides, Turkey creates conditions for
power Turkey, leader Turkey.

In conclusion, Turkey tries to be a new power. This situation which is called different concept is frightening some
and also some like this new situation. However, Turkey should learn leadership before it is a leader and change
the conditions for itself. With all of them, actual Turkey’s aim should be create balance in East against West and
in West against East, especially to be rescued the dependence of West. Maybe, after that we can mention that
Turkey is a leader and a rising power. That time, we can give the name we want; it doesn’t matter. The name
isn’t given to the baby who isn’t born.
