The Onslow County Partnership for Children has just been notified by NACCRRA that our
cooperative agreement to coordinate the USMC Deployment Respite Program, which ends May
31, 2011 will not be renewed. It is our understanding that currently enrolled families may use
respite care until June 11, 2011. The following communication was forwarded to families from
HQMC:
The USMC Child Care Subsidy Program (designed to support geographically dispersed
families) operates via a third party contractor. The contract is under a renegotiation period
and may be subject to change of provider pending results. We will do everything we can to
ensure continued operations, but families need to plan for an emergency, late notice child
care backup plan during period of end of May to mid June.
Beyond contract operation issues, the Marine Corps is examining eligibility for the program
due to financial constraints. Therefore, it is certain that a more restricted eligibility policy
will be published via MARADMIN soon. Families living on base will be impacted. The final
approved MARADMIN will be sent to all participating subsidy program members and includes
the specifics on eligibility and funding caps. This advance notice is intended to alert you to
changes that will require family plans
