Absence By Roseanna Almaee Nov. 2010 Rumi says wood is absence. Once a tree, not yet fire.

And so a reed flute pulled from its watery birthing lacks the mournful melody which draws the dervish into his mad swirl with God. And so my hands, arms, eyes are absence longing for your return.

Non-rhyming poem: Formerly

Stephanie is a formerly hot chick of platform clogs maker her closer to God. Her self definition was s l o w to catch up with what society saw. Her body refused Pilates. Her younger boss refused her. A war raged within to be younger at all costs or accept the gift from time. She learned it is soul-sucking to care too much worry too much work too much on the exterior. She found that warm trumps sexy any day. And it is not her job to fit clothes but clothes job to fit her. And body is not identity. And Einstein was right. Time is a river that never stops.
