A-n introduction

to a modern

day mir.acle

In England, they're happening every day, drawing believers' from all over the world: circles of wheat stalks layed down so flawlessly that they.shine, in intricate, beautiful patterns. Where do they come from? Which are hoaxed, and which might justbe the most amazing supernatural occurancesever seen?

the night comes down on ballerina toes, a macabre trance; amnesia dance. i see midnight with stars in her hair with birds flying home that don't even care. (i see the moon with light in her eyes) the stars all drown in the las vegas lights the sky is screaming neon. 2 everything moves at amphetamine speed pop-culture always wants to feed we're the excrement of the american dream; inconvenient side-effects of Progress.

The little girl chose you, solitary black balloon, in among the pinks and blues of other children. She rejected their tempting translucencies, seeing those bright thin skins were too weak to hold true beauty. You were dark and rich as an oil slick absorbing all the wonders of the world. The girl knew in choosing you she chose all hues, hidden in endless obsidian. All around her, jellybean music played. She'd like to sink into your sunless depths, escaping those who float by in plastic orbs of yellow, purple sparkling splendor, worlds tinted by stretched synthetic shells: factitious wombs filled by dry, perfumed air slowly suffocating those within, each tiny child wearing a stillborn face. The little girl chose you, solitary black balloon, in among the pinks and blues of sickly-sweet and simulated life.

Beyond Gender
As

every unique combination of "male" and "female" emerges out of the woodwork of
our society, it becomes increasingly dear that two genders is not enough

A tall brunette with. rainbow pins on zir army bas-trots by, and catdus the eye of a slwrtfigure in baggyjeans and a musde tee. The two make quick eye contact; the passion of youthful desire snwlderins- alnwst imperceptibly in their eyes. The admirer in the baggy jeans checks zirselfin the reflective windowpane, likes what: zie sees. Zu leans past the brunett« to toss a wrapper in the trash receptacle, purposefully brushins- as-ainst zir ann as zie passes.

The typical innocent flirtations of youth, looked upon so warmly by most, are viewed in an entirely different light when the gender boundaries are unclear. The fact is that gender and sexuality are far from black-and-white issues. The spectrum is far wider than most people know and includes those who are androgynous, nen-geadered..gay /lesbian, bisexual, gender-bending, intersexed/hermaphroditic, transvestites and transsexuals, and everything in between. The rigid structures of gender identity are psychologically harmful, oppressive, and do not take into account large segments of our diverse population. It is time for us to shed the stiff cloaks of gender identity and assume our own identity-multi-faceted, unique, and always evolving.
The English language contains a limited range of awkward pronouns with which to describe an individual without implying gender (ei. it; them; (s}he, he/she).

A small plane flies over Windmill Hill on an early July morning. Suddenly, tbi;~-pilot's interest is piqued by a strange formation in the wheat field below. She directs the pilot to circle low above the form. Snapping photographs quickly, lucy Pringle breaks only to admire the extraordinary beauty of the design of flattened wheat. It looks to be a genuine crop circle, but only a ground inspection can confirm that. lucy Pringle is a world-famous crop circle photographer, and crop circles like the one she is described photographing above appear nearly every day. A crop circle is a design formed from bent stalks (usually, but not necessarily of wheat). Most crop circles are hundreds of feet across, and many of the designs are exceedingly beautiful. A crop circle is considered "genuine when the stalks are bent at a ninety-degree angle, without damage to the plant; the ratios and proportions are mathmatically sound; and no evidence of ·human creation is found. It's curious that the average American is so uninformed about the phenomenon of crop circles, after fifteen years of strange and not at all explained occurances in the fields of southern England. Efforts by the British Government and serious cynics such as Arthur C. Clarke to explain the circles' origin have not even approached a satisfactory level of accuracy, though these crude efforts have garnered media attention. In addition, circle hoaxers such as Team Satan have failed to provide evidence of their creation of a successful hoaxing--a hoaxing that passes as genuine. Serious researchers who have looked at the evidence know that if crop circles are indeed man-made, then at the very least, they are being created by microwave technology from the sky-riot the ground--in a matter of minutes. If the kind of technology required to carry this out does, indeed, exist, it comes as a surprise to contemporary physicists, who can only theorize about how one might design a machine to lay down precise thousand-foot-Iong designs in wheat from a point far above the earth. A top secret government programemploying the necessary hundreds of scientific personell and existing undetected for fifteen years--remains the only plausible alternative--except for otherworldly origin. So what is going on? Why can't anyone successfully duplicate crop circles? Why can't they show tAe thousands of believers how anyone with the right equipment can make crop circles as large, complex, and mathematically perfect as those that have been discovered to date? Despite fifteen years of opportunity--since crop circles began to proliferate in Engiand and around the world--and no one has come forward to ~ay, "look, I've made a crop circle and filmed its construction to prove it." Crop circles are our times' greatest mysterious phenomenon. I encourage all to find out more about them. There is a Wealth of information available, both in print and via the internet. This is something amazing-something beyond what humankind can explain or even fully comprehend--and it is occurring right now, as you read this article.

The Attraction to All Things Uncertain
Six Degrees Records 2001 Review by AzureBlu Tweaker is an product of the talent of Chris Vrenna, fonner member of Nine Inch Nails.

" ...And immediately, because of your " conditioning, you will hear the drums ...
The Attraction to All Things Uncertain is a ?hewy mouthful of edgy distorted sound. T!'e album IS beautiful in its distortion and filled With lovely, . repeating, bittersweet melodies. When n?t .rocklng out, Tweaker'ssmooth sound I.ets you slip Into a daydream, just a little, as you listen. The track I found the most interesting .for it~ blend of vocals and electronic distortion was Mlcro_slze Boy. This track is kick-ass weird. The .first track, titled. Linoleum is a beautifully sung piece. The song IS very heavy and light at the same time and is a great wa_yto start off the album. The seventh track, Ta~e me Ahve, almost has a pop appeal in its light melodic approach, but that's as generic as the album gets and even there it's very listenable! This album is a delicious, a s~nsual fea_;;tof sound, sometimes reaching lovely heights of discomfort.' discontent and sadness. The Attractio~ to All Thmgs Uncertain is an unusual and strange triP from beginning to end.
