TWO Rhode Island National Guard members who recently deployed to Afghanistan suffered devastating house fires with total losses. Luckily, all family members including young children, are unharmed.

For those of you who would like to make a monetary contribution checks can be made payable to the Rhode Island Blue Star Moms and we will forward any donations to Colonel Williams of the Rhode Island National Guard.

A young Rhode Island National Guard soldier from reduced circumstances needs a lap top. we are soliciting donations to make that happen. We want to keep in touch with him in Afghanistan.

On September 11, 2001, after just having finished an overnight shift at the firehouse, Stephen Siller was on his way home when he heard on his scanner news of the World Trade Center disaster. Stephen immediately turned his car around and drove to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. With traffic at a standstill, Stephen got out of his car, strapped on his gear and ran through the tunnel. He eventually met up with his Squad members as they rushed into the World Trade Center. Stephen Siller and ten other members of his Squad perished while saving the lives of their fellow Americans.
