Our teacher Mr. Barnard said that we are a group of lucky kids, studying at such a beautiful place with the view changing year round. I agree with him, and I know that a part of reason students choose to come here is because of the great environment. The school has two side views, in the see the fantastic view through seven aliened big windows in ground hall; everything was covered by white snow! However, when it is spring all the snow is melted and the new leaves and flowers are blooming! Some of my friends and I always go there to appreciate the mountain, sky, and the lake. To get closer to the lake, I walk toward the library and discover the green play ground and feel the freeze. Sometimes we may have class there with fine café chairs and tables. Nevertheless, the view from my balcony is also fantastic. Although not all the rooms in the school has a view, but fortunately, my room is facing toward the mountain and the lake. It makes me feel relax and fresh in the morning and at the afternoon. I can see the sunrise as well as the sunset above the lake. This is the place cultivates thousands

This is part of the criteria of helping the students to understand more about banqueting in the hotel and restaurant operation. The first event that the 2nd years held after the mid-term exam is „Arabian night‟. Second floor cafeteria is open at night for studying. Not only theories in books. Also. and also personal development for future career. I was told that this banquet is something I should attend because imagines you are in a palace. I always try to realize the qualification of being a functional manager. and it provides plenty of additional materials. example the banquet theme was „New Orleans‟. Going to the library which opens until 9pm is another option. professional knowledge. Although your style of dressing has to match with that banquet theme. Moreover. where all the students are raffle! I also have a friend who‟s in second year and explained how they organized themselves into different departments of operation to be able to start-up the banquet. and have meeting few times a week for projects. They open a window allowing us to see the real world. especially the 2nd year and the PGD students. Sacred Places Come to SHMS for a degree. Not for long. Teachers are preaching the maximum amount of skills that we are able to acquire. watching people exchange information. but it‟s never silent. I can be very focus and get into my work. Library is always quiet. I am in my friend‟s room sometimes. And it is smaller to the second year banquets. we also learn from teachers‟ experience when we listen to their stories. Whenever I study alone at cafeteria. excellence. my only one binder has become now six binders for my classes. I am now more organized. Since I have nice places and companies to learn. After lectures. there are many choices. but their banquet is held before the final exam weeks. I will have to do it like them too. push me and compare my notes. What I learn from this organization (the school) is its efficiency and communication among its staffs. without hiding a realistic side.of hotel management professionals. so I should value every practice and any kinds of precious lecture. For me. everyone needed to pull their weight and cared about the standard of work. I created extra work for my team when we had just a little time. I have to act differently. They set the challenging but realistic targets for us to achieve them. Mr. in practical classes. Then I had to decide which part of Switzerland I would like to apply to. I managed to pass through it and officially got an internship!! Nevertheless. I was a bit confused for the first time because it‟s different from what I had in mind and have experienced. Therefore. cut my nails. and then they give me a uniform excuse form with their signature and the date of when I will get it back. which means I will have to get a timetable signed by the teacher at every class I attend until the year is over. To be successful during this interview I have to attend a „personal development communication‟ class: teaching me how to write a CV. Without this form I cannot enter the cafeteria for breakfast. The discipline at SHMS is not to punish the students but rather it‟s like a guideline to a successful career in the hospitality industry. Ms Caroline Schaub. just in some cases when I‟m late like: if I forget something in my room and I have to run back to get it! When I had an interview in Lausanne I had to inform Mr. Mrs. Caroline who helped me in every way to get an interview and the job and Mrs. example my name badge has to be worn on the left side of the blazer. the appearance (how I should dress) as a professional and the questions I could ask the interviewer. cover letter. lunch or dinner.purpose of doing an internship. taught me the proper way to shake hands with the interviewer. minimal jewelry and heels no more than 6 cm high. It is not only my appearance that I have to bear in mind but also my attendance and punctuality to all classes or else I will be marked absent. I have to tie my hair. Cubbin who is the programme leader of 1 styear. I was told to go for an interview with one of the hotels in Vevey. It was very exciting when I sat on the chair in front of a new face (at that time) and was asked random questions. the choices were Swiss-French. During the interview she learned more about me by asking me a few questions. I am not allowed to be absent for no more than 18 hours and if I miss anymore hours I will go on ASC. the school had arranged an event. However. I would like to thank Ms. Swiss-German. A few weeks later. presents myself in an interview and presentation skills. Esteve who taught me professionally step by step of being an intern and as a future employee! Furthermore. First of all I have to dress correctly and professionally.

Actually I prefer to have a set of rules to be followed because it does make me a better person in terms of responsibility and punctuality. but afterwards I have been busy doing an exercise or a serious work out such as treadmills. which was posted on the information board. My first excursion was to Lausanne. which I liked so much. volley ball and basketball. I got a chance to play but not much due to the number of players. Excursions happen once or twice every month. The gym or „Club Max‟ located outside the main building near the Chunky Burger shop. destined for the night hour.will mark me absent. and so did the other people. Several ways to relaxing your life!! all the projects. during the winter it was getting dark quickly and so it was hard for me to participate. whether it is just for I love school activities and excursions because they are fun and adventurous. the sand boxing bag. Believe it or not I went to gym around 05:00am 3 times a week. There were around 30 of us and the gym was packed. weekend duties and exams etc…! There is a lot of equipment for you to choose from. [Type text] . however it was fun and I met some new friends who I wouldn‟t normally talk to in the school. The excursions are supervised by Mr. supervised by Mr. I use the treadmill and bicycle machine than others. but couldn‟t keep up the effort of doing it for long. I was in a volleyball group once. there was a trip to Lausanne. Fun Park and a Wine trip. The opening hour of Club‟s Maxx is from 05:00am – 24:00pm. Discipline isn‟t a big issue for me in SHMS at all. bicycles. Bayati who is very well known in the school and has a reputation of being close to all students. Of cause I have to pay for every excursion. I like to exercise in the morning before having a nice breakfast. weight lifting and table tennis. Bern. In order to attend the trip I had to make a reservation by depositing s small amount of money at the reception and I had to do it fast because the number of students is limited due to the bus‟s seats. However I did go to the volleyball with other friends from the different year in the small school van. They took us to the famous church and a shopping area. which is why the school provided such. but it is an amazing experience!!!! Sports are very popular in the school. It gives me an opportunity to relax my brain and exercise my body. The 3 major sports of the school are soccer. I love to talk to him because he never talks serious but relaxing discussions! He also always calls me and others by our nationality which is cool. The school also provides a bus and lunch packs for the excursion. I was stunned and amazed by the way the church was built because it had lots of detail in each and every corner that has been crafted. which is very important when I go into the working world. Most of the time. For example. I‟ve been to the gym many times during the first month of the semester.
This always gives me a headache as I have to recall my timetable and find 2-3 friends to join me.Bon apetit Like many other schools we have breakfast. However. Our lunch time starts from 11:30am-13:00pm in the I love to go and eat at the Trendz restaurant because the food is a combination of Western and Eastern style which really make me miss my home even more. It was tiring and hard work since it takes more than 2 hours to complete everything from the start to the end. Normally the breakfast starts from 07:00am-07:30am. Something I don‟t like about lunch time is that I have to wait a long time because everyone is out of their classes at the same time and so finding table to sit was hard to find during this time…but any way I am use to it now!!! I like dinner because I can eat slowly and relax not like breakfast and lunch. which allows us to experience fine dining service. sometimes it‟s easy to arrange but not always! French restaurant is more elegant by the way I have been served and treated! As a server I have to learn all the rules of „mise en place. I prefer to work as a server in Lunch time. but not always due to the late study!!! During lunch time we also have two other restaurants like Trendz and French. but these are prepared by student both in kitchen and on service duty (of cause I was one of the student who made it). sometime I make it to breakfast. Dinner starts from 17:30pm-19:00 in cafeteria but for this time only French restaurant is open. serve and clean. be in big trouble. at the stargiers in each restaurant to reserve a table and if you wish to cancel the reservation 18:00-20:00pm. you have to inform the stargiers before a day or else you will [Type text] . It is nice for the guests (students) lunch time to go and eat at the French restaurant but not as a server because I realized how much work I have to do in dinner than lunch. I have to make a reservation with cafeteria as well as the Trendz and French restaurants. lunch and dinner.
Most of the time I will borrow something from her and so does she. However. such as Leysin. Although. The teachers in this school are like friends who give me suggestions. even though we are different in terms of religion. They don‟t treat me like a child but as an adult. I really like her and I am happy she is my room mate. nationality and family background but we understand each other for some reason. who I have to I have not got the opportunity to meet and socialize with people from other campuses. she is lovely. HIM and IHTTI. My room mate. Most of the time theyare just like a friend who always takes care of me and makes sure that I am walking in the right direction. some of the people from Leysin who I speak to when I saw them down in Montreux. direction and knowledge of hospitality (in a real life situation). taking care and looking out for each other no matter what. Even though they can‟t help me but I know that they are trying their best to guide me step by step of solving it! I am very thankful to be their student and having them as my teachers! work with in groups and in class. are made up of funny and nice people. classmates. plus new faces that I have to coordinate with.FRIEND FOREVER……!!! Life at SHMS wouldn‟t be fun if I don‟t have a roommate and seeing each other in the morning and night time. It isn‟t easy for me because firstly I have a short time to know them and to understand them. I am never scared to go and talk or ask them about the problem that I‟m facing or have difficulty dealing with. until now! [Type text] . I was so happy and started to feel like knowing them even more than before. I have so many things to do. when it came to team work such as kitchen we help each other. Nevertheless.

On my way to the market. just like we are told to eat a loaf of long and tough baguette in a week. Mr. and add some honey and butter. It is a choice that I chose to come and invest in this hospitality school and it’s worth it. The workload makes me hardly think of something out of it. warm it. Remember our Food & Beverage teacher. without enough perseverance. How are we going to eat the bread? Of course it will be more enjoyable if we cut it into slices. Busy is good. I should know that the job is probably going to be on call 24 hours a day and requires total commitment and dedication. I would rather make mistakes before I open my own restaurants. I would say my life was fulfilled by plenty of work. things like how to make our plan work out. On one sunshiny day. I plan to do my project in the baguette-eating method. Besides the assignment.Enjoy the Work! After midterm. I have told myself to think it this way. I appreciated the view on the trains with my favorite snacks. my team came out with a working plan. having teachers correct my works and taking these challenges. However. I went down to Vevey for shopping and did market food cost research. Moreover. By doing these projects. how to have an effective and efficient meeting. I firstly divided the work into small portions for every week. Forget having nine-to-five mentality. I started to calculate the best prices for my designed menu. I think that‟s what hospitality looks like. Therefore. our working plan was not implemented by group members. I tasted the excitement of starting my own business. I found my cost control homework was absolutely interesting. small ones and big ones. how work smoothly among teammates are very important to learn. Therefore. I have learned to find fun and enjoy doing homework. giving homework becomes the way our teachers prepare our future. Conclusion: Life at SHMS couldn’t be more fantastic than it is now!! According to what I have been provided and offered by the school in a way that I wouldn’t get from else where. Cubbin told us that we have the whole semester to do the project. but sometimes I do complain the workload because it‟s such a challenge to make all of them perfect. After getting the data. Teammates and I just have to try another way then. I have been getting six projects and presentations now. I like to keep my brain working.
